COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tokyo Black is the second brand at YoHo. A robust porter, well balanced between the malt and the hops. The complex chocolate and roast flavours of dark specialty malts are combined with a floral and slightly spiciness from Perle hops.

Tokyo Black pours thin and is jet black. The head is mocha brown and remains for about 30 seconds. Moderate lacing lines the glass. The smell is mostly of bitter coffee and dark chocolate. The smell, like the beer itself, is a bit thin. The taste is only a little bitter with coffee and chocolate notes. A slightly metallic aftertaste lingers. The mouthfeel is thin but smooth and soft. Perhaps a little more prickly carbonation than a porter should have. Overall, this beer is ok but not great. Yona Yona Pale is a better offering fro Yo Ho.

12oz. Can: Aroma of malt, light chocolate, light roasting, and light licorice. Poured pitch black in color with a huge, creamy, dense, brown head that greatly diminished but lasted throughout. Opaque. Sparkling. Very good lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and slightly bitter. Tastes of malt, light hops, light licorice, light roasting, and light chocolate. Medium body. Lightly dry, lightly tingly texture. Average carbonation. Malt, light chocolate, light licorice, light roast finish is dry.

A: The pour is not quite black with a big, soapy, mocha head. S: Big time roasted malt aroma with coffee and coffee grounds being quite noticeable, too. Slightly acidic on the nose with some bitter dark chocolate coming through. T: More chocolate than I was anticipating with quite a bit of bitterness. Definitely a solid roasted malt character along with coffee. Again, there’s a definite acidity to the beer. M: Medium in body with a moderate level of carbonation. D: Not sure why this is getting such high marks on here. I thought this beer was pretty mediocre (at best).

Dark brown, spotty cream head, large bubbles. Bit of smoke and grain, light oat. Bit thin flavor, grainy, green, chalky, bit of coffee. Thin body and too fizzy for the profile.

350ml can. BLACK pour, dark brown head. Aroma of smoked malts, charred grains, cocao nibs, dark chocolate, burnt cereal, wooded hops, and fruity esters. Flavor of smoked malts, fish, burnt malt, heavy charcoal, some coffee, a touch of dark fruit under all of the deep heavy roast of prune. Finishes with a lot of char. Heavy bodied. It is dark!

Sampled at the Richmond Gather XIII. Black pour with good mocha head. Bambergy smoke on the nose. Deep rich roast and chocolate and earthy notes in the flavor. Surprisingly good. Very drinkable. Very enjoyable. Love that it comes in a can
