Tokyo Black is the second brand at YoHo. A robust porter, well balanced between the malt and the hops. The complex chocolate and roast flavours of dark specialty malts are combined with a floral and slightly spiciness from Perle hops.

Can 33cl. Poured into a shaker. Almost opaque black, tall macropore tan head, mostly diminishing, light lacing; aroma roasted malts, cocoa, light licorice; mild taste, medium sweet and bitter, roasted malts, chocolate, light dark fruits, bit coffee groundings; dry bittersweet aftertaste, light spicy notes; medium body, creamy to watery texture, soft carbonation; maybe a bit on the thin side tastewise but quite drinkable.

An above-average Porter. A bit like a muted campfire stout. Pours a great deep black with a tan head. Smells of chocolate and vanilla. Taste is a modern Porter, creamy with lots of chocolate, vanilla and bread pudding. Had in the can.

P- Medium full body, average texture, average carbonation, smooth finish. O- A darn tasty porter. Iíve come to love this brewery called Yo-Ho during my time in Japan. Please come to the US now. A really nicely done Porter. It doesnít scream special but itís just easy to drink and not a thing wrong with it.

Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Roasty aroma, chocolate, with a rich chocolate flavour. Full richness like a mud cake, with some light metallic hop in the finish, notes of coffee and citrus. Itís a touch raspy, where a more rounded gentle carbonation would serve it well. Finishes pretty clean. Decent to try once every now and then.
