3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
My last thank you to Chris for his very thoughtful gift. Pours black with a medium, although short lasting, tan head. The aroma is roasted, with coffee, chocolate, vanilla, and some slight licorice as well. The taste brings out a lot more of the chocolate. Coffee flavors are still there, and there is some smokiness as well. Lighter in body, with an oily and somewhat thinner texture. Short aftertaste that is a smoky coffee. This is a pretty good porter. There is really cool artwork on the can as well.

Handpump at Popeye, Tokyo.
Dark opaque color, small beige head. Burned malts, lactose in the nose. Light-bodied to medium-bodied. Lactose milky, burned malty flavor. Soft palate, a bit sweetish. Maybe not my favourite beer style.

Can. Opaque brown-black with very thin tan head. Smells of oat, slightly burnt coffee, tiny bit of anise but more spicy than raisiny. Tastes of same burnt coffee, quite bitter. Body on the watery side, bit spicy. Nice that it's got both very roasted malt and bitter hop but kind of thin.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Can from Tallinna Kaubamaja food department. BB was due in June which explains the € 1,60 price tag (I think I did buy it on the last day of June). Pours a deep, reddish brown with a big creamy head. An intense malty aroma of barley, Irish coffee and chocolate. Taste is roasted malts, sweet, chocolaty and fresh, grassy hops. Smooth, medium body, light carbonation. Dry mouthfeel. A beautiful, near balanced brew.

Can at Taps, KL. It pours jet black with a medium tan head. The nose is rich roast, coffee, toast, earth, cocoa and umami notes. The taste is bitter, roasty, toast, peppery spice, dark chocolate, ash and umami edge with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Pretty robust and rather tasty. Nice stuff.
