3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Scipio (488) - Palatine, Illinois, USA - JAN 31, 2013My last thank you to Chris for his very thoughtful gift. Pours black with a medium, although short lasting, tan head. The aroma is roasted, with coffee, chocolate, vanilla, and some slight licorice as well. The taste brings out a lot more of the chocolate. Coffee flavors are still there, and there is some smokiness as well. Lighter in body, with an oily and somewhat thinner texture. Short aftertaste that is a smoky coffee. This is a pretty good porter. There is really cool artwork on the can as well.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 5000 (4962) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - MAY 3, 2013
Can:   Deep brown, thin beige head, sudsy, sparce lacing.   Nose is slightly pasture like.   Otherwise soft roastiness and a little (touch) of lactose.   Mild bitterness on the tongue.   Make that VERY mild
bitterness.   Slight cocoa and watered down coffee on the backside.   Not a big Porter, and certainly not like a west coast example.   Remains flavorful tho from start to finish.   Decent example.   Body and mouthfeel
are moderate to full.   Has a decent body at least.

Sweet, roasted, chocolate scent. Malty, sweet, cocoa taste. Medium to smooth mouthfeel, low bitterness. Nice and drinkable, I enjoyed this one a lot.

11.8oz can, shared by caterwaul. Sticker on can reads 3/9/12. Very dark brown color. Thin, light brown bubbly head. Good spread of lace. Really nice nose... Dark chocolate, some charred wood, some good coffee, bit of dark fruit. Very complex. Light smoke, medium body. More light, smooth drinkable texture, with a lighter carbonation and more of a dry finish. Lightly creamy. Good roast malt. Nice, mostly bitter taste. Great, flavorful, drinkable, enjoyable porter.

Can (labelled as Karuizawa Kogen National Trust).
Delicious malt and chocolate nose, slightest hint of spice. Smooth and velvety even from a can I had kept for a while. Medium to high carbonation. Creamy. Very good stuff.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 allanbowers (92) - melbourne, AUSTRALIA - MAR 17, 2013
330 ml can. Pours black with a reasonably small head. Quite a light taste. No t your normal porter type heaviness.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 lliams (84) - Hawthorn, AUSTRALIA - FEB 22, 2013
Black as the Ace of Spades. Aroma is all roasty toasty goodness. Sits quite light on the palate- contradictory to the colour. Good complexity- more toasted malt balance. A session Porter easily. Again, excellent on-paper example, if a little uninteresting.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Alphadelic (1628) - Portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 21, 2013
A heavy, roasted malt nose. Super smooth and slick. Mellow yet full of robust malt character. A very light and short-lived bitterness. Quite awesome.
