COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tokyo Black is the second brand at YoHo. A robust porter, well balanced between the malt and the hops. The complex chocolate and roast flavours of dark specialty malts are combined with a floral and slightly spiciness from Perle hops.

At just on cool and into a stumpy tulip. Black, brilliant and with ruby highlights showing showing in the very shallows. Capped off by a dense, tannish crown that holds but manages little lace. Light caramel, smoke, Belgian waffles fresh toasted and topsoil make up the interesting waft that tickles the nostrils. Medium light in body, creamy and subtle overall on the palate with a prevalent malty, smoky, charred wood flavour. Good hit of dark chocolate and vanillin. Finish is ashen with a supple, caramel sweetness that lingers. Lacks depth but arguably a very easy drinking Porter. Like it, but it is a little forgettable. (33cL can, Coded 112229, Cellarbrations Carlisle)

Can. Black with a tan head that never quite gives up. Floral aroma with roasted malt, chocolate, molasses. Gently mouthfilling with little sweetness and a dry but barely bitter finish. Chocolate, mild roast, dark sugars, floral notes. Insubstantial but rather elegant.

Solid robust porter with caramel, chocolate and bits of roasty coffee. Coffee finish.

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2012 Like a sweeter version of their tokyo black this is very nice, but about 70 yen more than said beer, so theres really no point to this one in my eyes, other than the donation that is offered through the sale of the beer

Robust is a great word to describe this, with a very creamy taste on the palate. As smooth as silk and a lot of dark flavours for such a low alcohol. My go to black beer in Japan

Black pour, no head. Aroma of burnt malt and licorice, similar taste, quite flat.

Cask @ GBBF 2006. Black with a loose tan head. Sweet, roasted malt, ashy and a touch of shellfish. Slightly pedestrian.

Cask (GBBF 2006): Black in colour. Sweet, nutty chocolate with some roasty notes. A little chalky, but perfectly drinkable stuff. Suprising beer from Japan!

4/23/2011. From can. Pours mahogany with a tan head. Roasted malt aromas with dried fruit, chocolate and coffee. Good bitterness and body. Probably my favorite from this brewer.

330ml can. Black color. Flat as characters in Japanese cartoons. Burnt pancakes, flour, sweet, mild chocolate in aroma. Sweet, coffee, roasted malts, milky taste. Watery texture. Nice roast in aftertaste.
