Cask (GBBF 2006): Black in colour. Sweet, nutty chocolate with some roasty notes. A little chalky, but perfectly drinkable stuff. Suprising beer from Japan!

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2012 Like a sweeter version of their tokyo black this is very nice, but about 70 yen more than said beer, so theres really no point to this one in my eyes, other than the donation that is offered through the sale of the beer

Robust is a great word to describe this, with a very creamy taste on the palate. As smooth as silk and a lot of dark flavours for such a low alcohol. My go to black beer in Japan

Draught at Popeye’s (getting pretty drunk by this beer). Black with a creamy tan head. Roasted aroma with some malts and hops. Medium creamy body. Sorta sweet malts, roasted, hops, and some fruit. Good stuff.

Can 330ml. Great beer. Aromas of apple, milk chocolate, and caramel. Taste is sweet, with light bitterness, average duration. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Dark brown, with a frothy head.

From a personal cylindrical metal containter. Pretty dry, light, malty porter. Some coffee flavor and light acidity. Sweet coffee aroma. Better at room temp than cold. Nothing amazing going on here, but a good porter.

Can. Dark black pour, a little lacing and a nice roasted dark malt and peat & chocolate aroma. Flavor is outstanding, rich velvety chocolate, dark malt, earthy peat and a little sweetness on the finish. I’d buy the hell out of this if it wasn’t $6/can.

Can from KyotoLefty. Mildly roast and mildly chocolaty. A nice porter that was exceptionally easy to drink. If this was cheap and available in the U.S I would buy.

not used to shelling out $5 for a single can, but I wanted to try another japanese brewery. Beautiful black pour with thick beige head. Lots of coffee roast on the nose. Sweet caramel, milk chocolate on the tongue. The body was a bit thinner than expected. Black pepper and pine on the finish. Tasty.

Black body, brown head. Aroma has roasted malts, chocolate and some berry like notes. Robust. Bit thinnish. Nice porter but not the best one.
