Tokyo Black is the second brand at YoHo. A robust porter, well balanced between the malt and the hops. The complex chocolate and roast flavours of dark specialty malts are combined with a floral and slightly spiciness from Perle hops.

Dark brown, spotty cream head, large bubbles. Bit of smoke and grain, light oat. Bit thin flavor, grainy, green, chalky, bit of coffee. Thin body and too fizzy for the profile.

Can from Aeon mall near Narita airport. This looks promising: black pour with a big milk, chocolate head. The aroma reminds me of slightly sweetened coffee with milk; also some nice roasted malt. The flavor is a bit of a letdown though. Really kinda thin and bland. Fine overall.

Stylistically challenged, pitch black and overhopped Porter had no head, but the nose gave off a deceptively huge citrusy aroma and the malts were barely present. The mouth was smooth with citrusy fruit, nuts and a hint of chocolate prancing around. The ending was smooth, but lacked real depth. An interesting beer that just gets a slightly lower mark because of it is not really within a style guideline.

350ml can. BBE 2014-12-10. From Systembolaget. Pours black with a brown, thick head, lacing. Ashy, roasty aroma, licorice as well. Flavor has some sweetness (licorice?) roasted malt, chocolate. Pleasant finish, coffee notes and chocolate lingering. As it warms up more, ashy notes. Thin, needs more body. Nice flavors.

Can. Pours cloudy nearly black with airy tan head. Clear aroma of coffee, roast and malt. Bitter, roasty flavour, with sweetish notes of caramel malt and touches of liquorice and coffee. Bitter and roasty aftertaste. Creamy mouthfeel. Good.

Can from Mane Liquor. Pours very dark brown with a small tan head which slowly disappears. Nose is quite sweet - full of chocolate and vanilla, hint of citrus. Has that salty dryness about it. Very dry and chocolate driven with some hop bitterness and light liquorice. Solid

Can from Systembolaget. Deep smell with creamy dark chocolate. Taste is also deep and full with dark chocolate, hard toasted bread and something that makes me think of milk chocolate. Full body. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel.
