Can from KyotoLefty. Mildly roast and mildly chocolaty. A nice porter that was exceptionally easy to drink. If this was cheap and available in the U.S I would buy.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours black with a lasting head.
Sweet-smelling, some soy sauce shows along with roasted malt. Little else. Very faint.
Better flavours, with some spicy hops, roasted malt and liquorice. Again, quite sweet.
Carbonation is too high.

not used to shelling out $5 for a single can, but I wanted to try another japanese brewery. Beautiful black pour with thick beige head. Lots of coffee roast on the nose. Sweet caramel, milk chocolate on the tongue. The body was a bit thinner than expected. Black pepper and pine on the finish. Tasty.

Really liked the hoppiness and dryness of this porter. Almost sour in the finish. Definetly and interesting drink that would be a nice compliment to something sweet a fruity like plum jam on crackers or marmalade glazed duck.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Can bought in Tokyo, Dec 2011. Nice on the pour, with a huge foaming tan head. Colour is black opaque. Nose is first of all zingy citrous hops, then roasted malt, and a touch of milk chocolate, which comes through much stronger on the finish. Body is medium and touch oily. Not huge on depth of flavour though.

Nice porter and i def like porters in a can. Dark black like oil and a silky chocolaty taste.

Can from Whole Foods Roosevelt.
The expected dark pour with tan head. Rather limited aroma, but a well-balanced flavor with a little bit of ash and a lingering sweetness-mixed-with-hop-snap that is quite pleasant on the long end of the flavor profile. Extremely drinkable.

Cask - Wetherspoons. Black in colour with a thin and bubbly tan head. Healthy stout aromas: coffee; roasted malts; chocolate. Sweet, sweet chocolate flavours with a hint of alcohol which keeps until the finish. More roasted malts after the sweetness has subsided. Smooth on the palate with a dry roasted finish. Yum.

A heavy, roasted malt nose. Super smooth and slick. Mellow yet full of robust malt character. A very light and short-lived bitterness. Quite awesome.

At Craft Beer Base, a can 280 yen to go and 560 in to drink in which is what I did. A very solid porter with some roast coffee notes and an inky black color with a burnt orange head of foam. Very nice value.
