Tokyo Black is the second brand at YoHo. A robust porter, well balanced between the malt and the hops. The complex chocolate and roast flavours of dark specialty malts are combined with a floral and slightly spiciness from Perle hops.

4/23/2011. From can. Pours mahogany with a tan head. Roasted malt aromas with dried fruit, chocolate and coffee. Good bitterness and body. Probably my favorite from this brewer.

Well made and pleasant.

Can. On my second to last day in Tokyo I was told that in the basement of big department stores they sell microbrews. This was one of my finds. A chocolate stout in Japan! It had a dark brown color with a foamy brown head. The aroma was sweet with chocolate and coffee.

At just on cool and into a stumpy tulip. Black, brilliant and with ruby highlights showing showing in the very shallows. Capped off by a dense, tannish crown that holds but manages little lace. Light caramel, smoke, Belgian waffles fresh toasted and topsoil make up the interesting waft that tickles the nostrils. Medium light in body, creamy and subtle overall on the palate with a prevalent malty, smoky, charred wood flavour. Good hit of dark chocolate and vanillin. Finish is ashen with a supple, caramel sweetness that lingers. Lacks depth but arguably a very easy drinking Porter. Like it, but it is a little forgettable. Can. Heavy chocolate and mild coffee nose. Very dark brown (nearly black). A bit sharp in initial. Heavy roast malt and chocolate flavors, with nice sweetness in mid palate. Nicely balanced aftertaste. Very tasty, but a bit candy-ish.

@Basunen 14-9-13: en tydlig doft av kaffe och mogen frukt. Smaken är lite tunn men helt ok. Lagom besk eftersmak. Helt ok. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone ---- Soberness not garanteed!

03.12.2014, 0,35l can @ Apollon:
Nice creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet, dark malts, licorice, "knekk", dark sugar, coffee, hay, chocolate. Taste is slightly dry, dark malts, hay, burnt caramel, licorice, grass, paper, coffee. Medium bitterness, slightly dry and thin mouthfeel. Fair enough.

Can bought from Bic Camera! Branded as National Trust. Pours extremely dark brown black with frothy beige gold head. Aroma is smoke spice and bitter coffee. Taste is dark chocolate, strong coffee with a bitter finish. Slight creaminess. Spiciness lingers at the end. Lovely. Possibly a bit thin inthe mouth but this is just a quibble. Has the oiliness you would expect though. Having something this good out of a can from a camera shop is pretty amazing.
