Tokyo Black is the second brand at YoHo. A robust porter, well balanced between the malt and the hops. The complex chocolate and roast flavours of dark specialty malts are combined with a floral and slightly spiciness from Perle hops.

Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Roasty aroma, chocolate, with a rich chocolate flavour. Full richness like a mud cake, with some light metallic hop in the finish, notes of coffee and citrus. It’s a touch raspy, where a more rounded gentle carbonation would serve it well. Finishes pretty clean. Decent to try once every now and then.

Diving deeper into Japanese beer I stumbled upon this biutiful beer. Yes it is not the most complex Porter out there, but it has some nice overall qualities.

The notes of dark roast, coffee and a hint of toffee hits your mouth when tasting this beer. The head stays and does not disapear. A very good porter.

(Yo-Ho Tokyo Black Porter) Can 330 ml at home, served into a snifter. Black colour on the body, with a good sized and thick, light brow head on top. Quite good foam retention. Aroma of dark bitter chocolate, light hazelnut, light moccha. Taste has roasted malts, coal, chocolate, refreshing fruity notes. Medium body, carbonation on good levels, smooth and mildly dry on the palate. Good!
