Cask - Wetherspoons. Black in colour with a thin and bubbly tan head. Healthy stout aromas: coffee; roasted malts; chocolate. Sweet, sweet chocolate flavours with a hint of alcohol which keeps until the finish. More roasted malts after the sweetness has subsided. Smooth on the palate with a dry roasted finish. Yum.

Jul 9, 2008 Handpulled cask at JDW Watford. Black with tan head and modest carbonation. Toasted malt and quality coffee flavors. Oilly hop finish. Very pleasant.

Jun 27, 2008 Cask, JDW, 4th April 2008. Pure black with no carbonation, this has a strong roasted malt aroma and an excellent flavour of chocolate, dark malt and liquorice. Very soft on the tongue too. A very, very nice dark porter.

Clear medium to dakr black color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, burnt, chocolate, moderate hoppy, english licorice. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet, light acidic and moderate bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. (010508)

May 5, 2008 Tokyo Black is one respectable porter. Black black colour, rocky brown head, flavour is chocolate, roasted raisin, barley. Suffers a little from a slightly oily feel and a stilted finish. Could be a huge beer if it wanted to. A decent weekday brew, if that makes sense.

Apr 26, 2008 Cask, The Last Plantagenet, Leicester. Black with a cappucino head. Aromas are earthy roast coffee with cream and peppery notes. Kept making me sneeze, which was odd. Flavours are coffee and peat with good smokiness and dark chocolate. Very smooth on the palate. Bitter roast aspects on the finish.
