Cask @ GBBF 2007. Pours a clear copper color with a white head. Has a fruity malty hop aroma with some hints of grapefruit. Sweet malty hoppy aroma with hints of grapefruit. The finish is sweet malty with a nice hoppy aftertaste.

Cask@GBBF2007. Deep orange colour, with mediumsized white head. Aroma is quite fruity and malty, with some slight spicyness notes. Flavour is what I would call tropical juice mixed in with some slight caramel malts and also some hints of grass and more bittering hops. A pleasant thing.

A Mes rate:
Gravicask at GBBF. Every night ale? Actually after trying it I think that’s not too far wrong. Ian is right. Superbly drinkable. Nicely balanced, plenty of grapefruit and citric notes. Jolly tasty pale ale.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 harrisoni (10948) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - AUG 8, 2007
Cask gravity at GBBF 07. Really, really lovely hop. One of my favourite beers of the first day. Really drinkable. I thought it had great malt hop balance. Drinkable to the extreme, apparently, or so my notes say.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 MartinT (6934) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 2, 2007
My Bottom Line:
Peachy caramel maltiness and herbal, citrusy hops develop gorgeous curves and wise equilibrium in this cask Pale Ale fit for multiple tongue stimulations.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-Tight cask foam (sparkler-induced) beautifies the pale orange.
-Mouthfeel is quite lively, which isn’t my usual cask experience.
-Body is full while remaining drinkable.
-Balance and satisfaction are definitely obtained for me, even though this is not a recipe reaching for the stars.
On cask at Towers.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Capa (1905) - Manama, BAHRAIN - JUL 11, 2007
Draught at Popeye’s. Clear copper with medium head. Crisp citrus aroma. Hops, cirus and some pine, pretty solid pale ale flavor. Medium/light body, crisp and refreshing. A good brew.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 mullet (849) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JUN 4, 2007
Nice and thick caramelly malt, but the hop character’s all a bit stewed and weedy where I’d prefer freshness. Could use a bit more hop flavour and bitterness too I reckon. At the top end of the style for thick malt and caramel but lacking the requisite hop character to make it all work. Nice enough stuff otherwise, just a bit plain.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20 asheft (2264) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 5, 2007
[on cask at Popeye (called "Yona yona real ale"?)
Nice grapefruity citrus hops aroma with some light toffee in the background. Clear light amber with only a little lace and not top. The grapefruit comes through nicely in the flavour and is complimented by only a touch of pine, and actually not harsh bitterness though this beer is clearly highly hopped, based on the salty feel of it. Apple and walnut accents along with some nice sweet toffee. Medium body with vey low carbonation (cask!). Almost clean, but there’s a little lingering resinous feel to it.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 larsga (5325) - Oslo, NORWAY - APR 22, 2007
UPDATED: APR 10, 2008 Small offwhite coarse head. Light amber body. Sweet tropical fruit (mango?) and perfume hop aroma with roasty, malty background. Dense sweet dryish taste of tropical fruit and roasted malts with strong citric hops background. Some carbonation in mouth, and some chalk. Soft and smooth mouthfeel. Wonderfully clear and distinct taste. Smoky, dry taste lingers. Powerful taste, but still highly drinkable. Very nice. A really good APA. (0.35l can. First time in Japan, second time gift from Naito-san.)
