YONA YONA means EVERY NIGHT! YONA YONA ALE is exactly the beer you can enjoy Every night! Why don’t you try it in NAGANO?

Note: All different Japanese versions of Yona Yona ale go here, including the Real Ale hand pump version, the so-called "Real Ale" nitro can, keg, and regular can. Under RB rules, these are all the same beer.

Fruity & citrus (grapefruit) aroma. Nice copper color, half-inch of slightly rocky head w/ a thick screen of lacing. Very nice sweet to bitter transition on the tongue. Clean and smooth. Medium body (or full body for a pale ale). Actually, this beer approaches an IPA style, rather than pale ale, in aroma and flavor character. A well-made beer.

Can. Amber beer with a cream head. Summer fruit aroma. Malt and summer/tropical fruit flavors. Medium bodied. Summer/tropical fruit lingers with light malt.

12 ounce can - $4.49 at Hop City in Atlanta, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours out a clouded, medium-dark amber body with a sudsy, ivory-hued head. Light lacing as it goes.

Smell: Lightly sweet-scented biscuity-toned malts with a glaze of amber honey and chiefly orangey hops.

Taste: Bready, biscuity malts with a fair amount of honeyed sweetness, though it joins some floral accents for a taste of honeysuckle. Sweet orange, slight lemon from the hops, but a bit of herb pushed into the background. Modestly bitter, leaving it to finish out faintly sweet.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation.

Overall: Refreshing, pleasant, though rather cost-prohibitive for regular consumption at nearly five bucks a can (but still pleasant to try).

Pours an attractive clear dark amber. I couldn’t get much of a head, though. Crisp aroma is malty with a fruity note that seems to be equal parts pear and plum. Flavor is mainly malty and has a fruity undertone - I caught a hint of plum and a touch of pear. Texture is smooth with average body and fizz, but still enjoyable. Had at a good sushi bar in Atlanta - not world class, but still worthy if you happen to spot it.

Can with James. Very flat and corny/malty. Does not really taste all that much like a beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: SEP 10, 2013 Nice golden brown colour with a white head. Aroma has some pine and fruit to it, very fresh. Taste is weak with light carbonation, kind of disappointing after the rich aroma. Watery mouthfeel. Anyway, this is still one of my favourite Japanese market beers.

Cask at Popeye Tokyo (rated Apr 2008). Head is mostly lasting. Body is medium amber. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain, cookie, caramel), moderately hoppy (orange, apricot), with a note of cantaloupe. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Light to medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Lovely fruity aroma, nice appearance and mouthfeel...all around a very pleasant beer at least in cask form (haven’t had it from can).

Canned. Pours an ambered gold. Very floral hoppy smell. Similar taste. Quite a bit of ginger. Very japanese.
