Can from Taps, Kl. Smashed back at the Mandarin Oriental. It pours clear amber with decent white head. The nose is sweet tropical fruits, lychee, star fruit, cucumber and toasty grain. The taste is crisp, bitter, tangerine, light sherbet, decent malt backbone, toast, hay, lychee and grapefruit with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Nice lychee action. Rather enjoyable stuff.

What a great English-style ale. Malty and sweet initially, but quickly fades into a smooth, silky finish. Pleasantly surprised by this one!

UPDATED: JUN 8, 2014 The Real Ale Version is now in a 330ml can, I suspect it’s brewed and canned in Japan(not the UK) but this can does have a widget capsule in it. 5.5% Great looking nitro pour, creamy head that lingers with a nice sweet fruity citrus aroma - quite hoppy. The creamy smooth mouthfeel I associate with real ale, the taste is fruity citrus, some caramel and a nice bitting bitter finish. Tasty, good as an everyday chilling out kind of beer.

5.5% Regular Yona Yona can. A solid hoppy ale at a good price. A very nice orange-gold color with a nice head of foam and good lacing on the glass. Average, it’s pretty amazing the difference that real ale nitro cap makes.

Can found in Hasegawa Liquors. Poured a slightly flat looking golden amber with a small white head. Decent malt character, some hints of toastiness in there. Moderately bitter hop with a pleasant fruity tang. There is something slightly unusual I can’t quite place, but it is nice enough without being amazing. Better malts than many an APA.

Kort ettersmak. Konsumeringslett.

350 ml can, ABV 5.5%, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Deep golden to amber colour, moderate white head. Pleasant aroma of fruity hops, loads of exotic and tropical fruits. Refreshing flavour, not too sweet, not too dry. Moderate malts and plenty of fruity hops, but the bitterness is still very moderate. Again notes of exotic fruits. Easy drinking. Another potential "summer hit" from Japan.

ładny, ale dość słaby zapach cytrusów i żywicy. bursztynowy kolor, lekko zmętnione, dość trwała piana. w smaku pełne, lekko karmelowe, ze średnią, grapefruitową goryczką.

350 ml can bought at The Bottle Shop in Sai Kung.

Translucent dark amber colour with no yeast sediments; Three-quarter finger head and light-beige foam which lasts for 1 minute; Moderate sticky lacing with very slight carbonation; Fragrant aroma of grapefruit, light pineapple, honey, light floral, sugar and ale malt; Mid t olight sweet taste of ale malt, with very light grapefruit, molasses, light honey, pine, faint orange zest, light biscuits, light lime and light bitter grassy hops; Mid to light body, dry and slick palate; Mouth Feel is light pale ale, more of an light IPA than APA proper, with okay Ale maltyness, dry crisp body, really light grapefruit and orange, right molasses notes, good pine taste, and light yeast / biscuits. Easy… Hoppiness is light grapefruit and floral nose. Pine, light lime and light grass in taste. Bitterness is lightweight but enough for low-bitter semi finish; Dry after taste, crisp and easy to mouth.

Comments: This one is more of an IPA with everything from aroma to taste being brushed with a light touch, especially in American hops’ fruitiness and bitterness. It is for easy drinking and chilling out, but considering its high price, I wish more will be done for this to justify its APA tag.
