Tap at Devil Craft Hamamatsucho, Tokyo. Very hazy yellow. Short white head. Aroma is lemony, bready. Taste opens up on the thin side before filling out with the familiar banana notes. A bit overcarbonated here but a good stab at a weizen.

On tap at Qbrick. A cloudy honey gold with minimal head. It’s got an enticing wheaty clove aroma. Medium-light bodied but fairly smooth. The taste is of a solid though not so memorable weizen that is wheat + clove forward with no noticeable banana notes. Alright.

Banana cake, butter, creamy, quite sparkling, candy, hints of vanilla, peppery finish. Quite flavorful Hefe-Weizen, the best brew of their weak lineup imho.

On tap at Ant n Bee in Tokyo. Was a bit fearful based on RB ratings in the 50s, but was pleasantly surprised to find the beer much better than Blue Moon, though not quite as good as Weihenstephan.

On tap at the brewpub. Cloudy yellow. Monkeys would come swinging out of the trees for the banana nose on this. Sweet and fruity, but a touch antiseptic for mine. Still fairly smooth. Maybe Weizens just aren’t my thing.

Draught at Yokohama Pivovar. Cloudy yellow - white head. Wheaty. Banana. Fruity. High yeasty. Orange. Sweetness. Classic. Nice if you like German Hefe Weizen - I don’t. (5/2/6/3/12)

Draught at the brewpub. Hazy deep golden, small head. Obvious estery banana with some raspberry jam on top. Sweet and emdium bodied with dense yet slightly spritzy mouthfeel Flambuoyantty estery with some surprising butter and hay. Refreshing and tasty despite being on the sweeter side.

I liked the look of it on tap in Pivovar, nice, cloudy and unfiltered. However from the bottle it jsut looked al wrong. As if there really was banana in there and it had turned. Nice aroma and initial mouthfeel isn’t too bad, if you can ignore the overpopwering sweetness. The first taste told me it was too sweet. Just too sweet for me. Agree with Kyoto Lefty in that it felt ’cloying’. I like weissens. I think this could be a great beer but just dont like the strange sweetness that takes over after the intial taste dies away. The sweetness is refreshing at first, but it doesn’t die down. Not a bad beer at all, but I hoped for more and would like it a little less sweet. How many more times can I type sweet?
