Cask handpull, The Three Legged Mare, York, 17/04/11. Honey amber with a fine white slick and drapes. Aroma of boiled sweets, cheap coffee and boiled egg. Wash of stale card waved in caramel; slight shrubbery sprinkled with brown sugar, Weetabix. Dull in the extreme.

Cask, The Pub, Leicester. Amber brown with beigel head. Aromas are weetabix and oats with a damp grass character. Yeasty with light toffee and mild oranges. Flavours are grain with toffee and floral notes. Dry with little bitterness in the finish. A bit rough around the edges.

Cask, half at Mr Foleys Cask Ale House, Leeds. Served at ambient drinking temperature. Beige, lacing-head. Dark amber body. Smell of earthy malts with hints of spices. Caramel malts in flavour offset by notes of fruity hops and a nice bitter ending. Good drinking (Pub Crawl 11.07.2010).

(Cask at City Arms, Manchester, 23 July 2009) Dark amber colour with creamy, beige head. Malty nutty nose with notes of dried fruit, orange peel and dusty hops. Malty, slightly nutty taste with toffee, caramel and a moderately bitter finish with slightly earthy hops. Fairly light body. Nice and drinkable bitter.

Cask handpump at The Maypole, Cambridge. Dark amber with a short head. Malty with a berry scent. Thin. Not much sweetness or bitterness yet a dry end. Hoppy, citrus, grapefruit in the mouth. A bit boring but not bad.

Cask at The Friendship, Fallowfield. Mid-brown colour with firm white head. Malt aroma, sweet malt taste with a bitter finish. Odd hint of passionfruit in the mix. Decent palate. Good standby bitter.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms JDW, Bristol 5/02/09. Cooper coloured with a tight, off white head that left a film of lace down the glass. Sweet malt aroma with a hint of leafy hop. Flavour was a bit sickly, with some red fruit and a moderately bitter finish. Ok.
