3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12th November 2009
Spoons Fest. Slightly hazy amber beer. Light crispy palate. Even malt base with lively citrus fruits on top. Lime, orange, tangerine and mandarin. Not really hop bitter. Clean, refreshing and a bit different.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Sampled this ruby ale in Esquire House, Glasgow (JDW) in November 2009. Cask, handpump dispense. Crystal clear copper red in colour with a thin white head. A slight malty aroma but short in intensity. Thin resiny mouthfeel with poor lacing. Pale malts give a robust biscuity malt note with a slight tang of tart redcurrant fruit. Dry hops give a bitter resiny aftertaste which leads to a short sweet crisp green apple note in at the finish. An ok session ale but really lacking body and complexity though.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A Mes rate. Cask at Baker St ’Sporks.
Copper coloured with a good off white head. Good balance of sweet yet slightly earthy malt and a pleasant citric bitterness leading to a long grassy finish. Straight forward but drinkable and reasonably enjoyable.

The Baron. Foggy copper draped with lace. Hazelnut and damp leaves aroma dusted with choc. Another one of those reddish, slightly dank Crystal malt-infused (probably) efforts hinting at sesame, chocolate, vinous fruit... unexciting but pretty good.

Cask Handpump at the Swim Inn JDW, Sheffield 14/11/2009
Lots of fruit aroma. Copper coloured and fruity with some alcohol present. A little sourness in a hoppy bitter and slightly peppery lasting malt finish.

3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Handpulled cask at JDW Hatch End. Copper with a beige head. Well balanced fresh bitter with a roasty edge and fresh hoppy finish. I always enjoy beers from this brewer.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Darkish amber with slight head. Sour fruits dominated this, tartish cherry, acidic and a little unpleasant. Probably not at its best in this Spoons. Not particularly good.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask conditioned handpump Saracens Head Daventry. A copper coloured beer with a red hue and a thick whitish head and lacing. The aroma is flowery fruity whilst the taste is fizzy fruity. Berry notes throughout from the Bramling Cross. A hint of acidity maybe. It’s ok but nowt special.
