3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask at The John Duck, Durham, £2.50/pint.
A pale blonde beer with a thick, white head and slight visible carbonation. The aroma is pleasant and floral but simultaneously has plenty of malt and dairy touches. The nose portends the flavour precisely with some floral hop bitterness but well balanced with wheaty, biscuit malt flavours and short, crisp finish. Itís weakened by an overly grassy aftertaste but is still enjoyable. Itíd be great as a summer session beer but otherwise is pleasant if uninspired.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear amber, small but dense white head holds back any real aroma. Light malt, quite floral. Slightly weak, watery middle, lightly hoppy mild bitter finish. Decent enough but not particularly memorable.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On cask at the Old Well in Barnard Castle.
Appearance - golden with a proportionate head. Slight hop haze.
Nose - lemon, meadow flowers, even a bit of fresh sweat.
Taste - more lemon, quite sweet heading to lemon curd
Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy yet tangy texture and a fairly good finish.
Overall - decent golden ale but more bitterness required if itís going to be a true guzzler.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask at The Outlook, Reading. Vivid clear gold with a large white head. Initially itís a bit thin and bland with just a hint of caramel and citrus. The hops take a while to wake up but eventually come through to give orange and a fresh leafiness and a mild but lasting and growing bitterness. Thereís a bit of creaminess which doesnít quite go with the hops- it needs to be crisper. Nevertheless itís a better-than-average golden ale.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask at the Clarendon Arms, Cambridge. Clear deep golden with an impressive white head and a fair bit of lacing. Grassy cereal aroma with a hint of vegetable. Taste is an improvement: a bittersweet malty base with fades to a pleasant bitter finish. Not much to it though. I remember this being better.
