Had this bitter in the Bull Inn, Paisley in October 1996. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear pale amber in colour with a thin white head. Distinct floral notes in the short aroma. Thin juicy mouthfeel and good lacing. Floral notes continue into the taste with cinnamon and honey evident, along with a digestive biscuit base. Dry hop resins giving a bitter astringent aftertaste. Finish has a malty caramel note, light in the mouth. A decent session bitter.

[cask at the York Brewery, York] pours clear bitter-coloured brown with a thin white head. Aromas of fruity malt, although there’s not an enormous nose on this one. Slightly fruity, slightly malty on the palate – leads to a slight bitter finish. I don’t mean that as a negative – this is the quintessential Northern English session bitter [26022011]

Half pint cask, served by air pressure dispense at The Bow Bar. The body colour is copper-golden. Lacing head. Weak smell of citric fruits. Light taste of leafy hops throughout. Short bitter tail. Watery in the mouth [Edinburgh, 26.10.2008].

[cask] Fruity hops along with Werther’s Original in the nose. Almost very clear golden brown and no head. Malty toffee flavour with lots of nuts and significant bitterness (not too much) ending with citrus notes. Light to medium body with moderate carbonation and a clean finish.

Cask in Blackfriars. Aroma is grassy bittering hop, slight pale malt character, but lacking somewhat. Taste is similar quite bitter, very rinkable, but lacking the citrusy hop character you get from htier other beers.

Excellent bitter! Very hoppy with a malty edge to it. Good session beer. Could happily drink this one all day! Tried it out at the recent Kingston Beer Festival. Must seek this beer out at the GBBF!
