Hand-pump @ union hotel. Pours near clear amber orange with resilient light off white head and excellent specked lace. Light herbs, floral notes, grains, light caramel, vanilla and toast. Light med body, low carbonation. Finish is light balanced sweet and touch grainy and bitter. Satisfying well done beer.

Missed this on tap several times so I bought a can to try it. Pours reddish amber with minimal head and only modest aroma. A nice bitter base from the hops that lingered on the palate. A decent beer.

Pours dark amber with a fluffy off white head. Nose is pretty muted, a little caramel and some stone fruit. Flavor is lots of caramel, orange, a little stone fruit, and then a very very grainy, malt based finish with a decent dose of bitterness. I don’t have much to say about this. It’s clearly a ’crowd pleaser’ beer that’s meant to appeal to a less adventurous palate, and that really bores me. Two strikes Young Henry’s.

Can. Amber with an off white head. Flabby aroma of biscuit, caramel, pears. Thinnish, moderate carbonation. Some passionfruit, vague citrus and pepper and a decent bitter finish cheer things up fair bit after the underwhelming aroma. Not bad.

Taste at the Pot Belly, Canberra. An okay English style bitter - this style is not my thing, I must admit, so this rating is a bit biased against the style.

4%ABV. English Bitter
Tapped out a nice deep amber, 16ºSRM producing a bounteous citrusy hoppy nose.
The palate is full of Lemon and Grapefruit meaning that there is a citrusy tang to the bitters. Finishes off neatly with a slightly grassy bitter herb finish. American or NZ hops. Amarillo, Nelson sauvin and citra hops are hinted at.
Goes on favorites list.

Young Henry's got good reputation at modernising some traditional styles. The can range good. This has a bit of caramel, cherries, light citrus and bitterness. Another good can. 375ml can, 4%, 1.2std drks.

Not bad. Respectable head which buggers off quickly, leaving minor lacing. Darker than expected. Not too bitter and easy on the palate.

640ml bottle into pint glass. Faint fruity hop nose. Looks the goods. Golden bronze beer with solid white head. High carbonation for a bitter with a constant stream of tiny bubbles. Lightly bitter, quite watery. Finish is dry, a little citric & a touch of cashew. True to style though perhaps a touch too bitter for an English style ’bitter’.
