Raisins, toffee and some hoppy aromas- a great combination. Flavours are rich with raisins and caramel, but with good balancing bitterness. Good body, dry mouthfeel. A great way to celebrate the anniversary (though cutting their roots in Wandsworth is not). kook (2034), Perth, Western Australia, Australia

A little fruity in the nose. Darker gold with a short white head. duff (5475), Surrey, Greater London, England
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Sep 1, 2006 Bottle, thanks Ungstrup. Some sweetish toffee and nut characters, with a warming alcohol prescence in the finish. The mouthfeel is a bit stale however, and it felt a bit dead/lifeless to me. This brew seemed to fire signals in lots of differing directions - belgian strong, bock, vintage old, etc. Lots of flavorful elements in place achieved with caramel malt, dominant yeast, and balancing hops, not of any particular shade themselves. Certainly not a straightforward ale, with qualities of spice and sour flavor alongside the usual yeasty quality of strong ale. Only so many bottles in production... maeib (4723), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 9, 2006 Thanks again! To Ungstrup. Typical an English celebration beer which none of us Englanders have seen is provided by our Danish friend!! A copper coloured beer with a nice balance aroma of hops and malts. The taste has good alcochol levels amongst a nice hoppiness. Drinkable and decent, but I couldn’t help thinking this was attempting to be a Fullers Vintage Ale rip off, which fell rather short. harrisoni (6798), Ashford, Kent, England

Gold, copper with bubbly off white head. Youngs yeast and attractive hop aroma. Quite strong alcohol. Chewy. Just a bit too carbonated. OK malts but maybe a bit thin. Don’t think that it was bottle conditioned which would account for the thinness of the malts. crackedkettle (2), Amsterdam, Netherlands does not count | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jul 16, 2006 Poured with a light and short-lasting head. Amber colour. Aroma nice, clean. A hint of typical English-style hoppiness in the nose. Quite malty at first with a lingering bitterness at the end, nicely alcoholic for an English ale. Well balanced, a very good beer.
