COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Only available bottle conditioned.
Production moved from Youngs to Wells and Youngs in 2007.
Ingredients: English Lager malt with Styrian hops.
Champion is an unpasteurised, living beer, matured in the bottle for a fuller, more complex, multi-dimensional, fresher taste. With no artificial carbonation, the only fizz is the natural effervescence created by fermentation.

500ml bottle from Asda. Hazy paleish gold with thin white head. Grapefruit and some hop aromas. Did I think this was a lager? Well it has some over carbonation and maybe a bit of cardboard, but otherwise it is pretty much a golden bitter. OK in mouth apart from too many bubbles with grapefruit sllightly yeasty finish. Fine

Bottled (BB 05/2005)
Honey yellow color, small creamy white head, lace. Light fruity and ashy nose. Flavor starts citrusy, then gives flowery hops. Finish is sweetish and oily. This is lame and dissapointing brew from Youngs.

Pours golden yellow with firm slightly creamy white head. Heavy aroma with hay, flowers and citric notes. Slightly metallic taste. None of the sourness from the aroma, but some dry bitterness at the end.

Bottle. Frothy white good mostly lasting head. Yellow colour. Nice but week moderate hoppy aroma. A little floral. Nice floral/bitter flavor. Average finish. Oily palate.

Bottle. Golden hazy colour. Pours a short lasting medium white head. Nice fruity and hoppy aroma. A nice fruity, though bit bitter flavour of hops and some malt. The after taste is long lasting bitter, dry and hoppy. A surprisingly different great taste from Young’s. I´m more used to their robust, heavy, dark beers. But this one sure is a "Champion".

Bottled: Clear pale yellow coloured. White head. Fruits, ester and hops in the nose. Fresh. Hoppy flavour. A little too watery. Mild bitterness in the end. Reminds me a little of Badger Champion ale, but by far not as good.

It’s a golden lager with a nice head. The aroma is hoppy and the flavour fruity and hoppy with a hint of caramel and a nice, bitter and lightly dry finish.

Yellow, with an ok white head. Aroma is floral, a little sweet, but also with notes of citrus. Has a malty and sweet flavor, but the citrus comes back there as well.

Bottle conditioned, Pale gold, high condition, fastly disappearing head. Citrusy sweet hoppy beer with little bitterness, light and hides alcohol. A little juicy fruitiness on the finish, pleasant but not great.

Citrus and apple aroma. Citrusy, fairly hoppy flavor. Some vanilla. Just a bit dusty. The citrus and hops dominate. Dry hoppy aftertaste. I like it a lot.
