nearbeer (1199), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Feb 8, 2008 500 ml, bb 17 Aug 07. This bottle says 5.2% abv (not 4.1% as indicated in info above). Hazy, iced-tea look with a large head that settles into a quarter-inch, lasting, sticky ring and leaves some cobwebs on the glass. Butterscotch and caramel, plus some spicy lemongrass and gunmetal in the nose. Citrus, resin, caramel flavors, with a nice bitter grassy-herb finish. Light-medium body is watery, smooth, and a little dry-tingly. One of the best bitters I’ve had, but the 5.2% probably really puts it in the ESB style, where it would still shine. RSRIZZO (987), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Dec 2, 2007 Had this beer on 1/22/2003. Color is a deep rich amber with good carbonation and a thin head. Aroma is a light sweet malt scent. Taste is light, malty and mildly toasted. Starting with a light/medium body it goes down smooth and easy with a hint of malt coming on. Finish comes on with a mild toasted malt flavor that flows into a nice full malt taste backed by a mellow bitterness. Overall its just a great brew. HopsOrDie (687), New Lenox, Illinois, USA Nov 12, 2007 Still on the shelf at the local liquor store. Best by date: Aug. 17, 2007. Pours copper with a caramel malt aroma and some earthy hops. Flavor has caramel and nutty malts along with a slight earthy hop flavor or maybe that’s cardboard? A little similar to Anchor’s OSA in the flavor. I liked buying this from time to time so it is said to see it go. scoobysnak (240), Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, USA Oct 18, 2007 Had this quiet a while ago... Apparently when they were still in business. Good caramelly flavors. Nothing spectacular but good none the less.
