I’m not a big fan of Stout beers. This beer did have a nice chocolate after-taste.

Beautiful opaque black appearance with a nice tan head. Good body. Nice chocolatey flavor, not overly bitter. Pleasant finish. My favorite chocolate stout so far.

Has real chocolate in it! I like it a lot. Bittersweet and roasty. One of Young’s best.

Excellent dark colour, with a solid head. The aroma of chocolate is subtle but definitely noticable, and the chocolate adds a depth but not sweetness to the flavour. It’s a decent stout.

Faintly scented chocolate malt with a solid tan head. Tasty roasted body followed by a somewhat watered finish. Not as rich as I was expecting, but very smooth and satisfying nonetheless.

Lacking in a chocolate flavor I thought, kinda mild for a stout. Otherwise very smooth.

Deep dark brown color. Pours with a large carbonated tan head. Small nose of chocolate and roasted java. Medium chewy mouthfeel. Flavors of chocolate, roasted coffee, roasted malt. Slight chocolate on the finish with some bitter components. Overall I wasn’t too impressed with this beer. I was expecting bolder/stronger flavors. Its a smooth beer, but lacks the punch I look for in a stout.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Bolt (117) - Boulder Creek, California, USA - JUN 5, 2002
It’s a stout with a non-sweet Hershey’s chocolate type malty flavor that hits more up front then gradually ends middle then finish. The more you drink it the less you experience any double chocolate... it ended up tasting more like a DARK stout if you don’t have anything to clean your palate. Otherwise it’s a good one to share. I really love them first couple drinks.

I am not a fan of stouts, but I am glad that I tried this one. First off, the scent of it in a room temperature glass is nice. It’s very chocolatey. Let it sit and watch it separate. There is a nice head on this stout. It is thick and creamy. I expected biterness, but this was much smoother than most stouts. The only bitterness was a slight taste of cocoa. This stout is best when it is just slightly cool. Don’t drink it ice cold. A refrigerated can should be ok when poured into a room temperature glass. It is ok by the time the head settles, but the best flavor comes when it warms up a bit. The chocloate taste really compliments the maltiness. The chcolate isn’t strong, but has that cocoa bite.
My only complaint was that I could taste the can, which is why I look forward to trying this in a bottle instead. I am pretty peculiar about cans though. I don’t care for them.

Roasty chocolatey with hint of coffee. Good chewy body.
