Pours deep black with a small tan head, lively carbonation in the glass. Nose is powerful chocolate and raisin. Flavor is very strong, smoky, sweet chocolate, with coffee towards the end and a beguiling spiciness in the finish. Very good.

Poured black, with a tight tan foamy head. More than adequate lacing I might add. Aroma of Chocolate, and coffee. Smooth, chocolate is prevalent, like everywhere. In the first taste, the mid taste the oh so sweet lingering after taste. This was smooth, silky and creamy, like a chocolate milk shake. Most excellent dry finish. If stouts are for you, get your paws on this one boys!

UPDATED: APR 5, 2007 Bottle. Yep, chocolate. Double chocolate. Poured dark brown with big tan head. Despite the chocolate, the hops still are clear and good. Great palate. Good nose. Good all the way around. I have laid in a stock of these now that Young’s is gone. It is going to be hard to drink the last one. Sort of like eating the last Passenger Pigeon.

Very dark brown body with a healthy, tan head. I won’t get into the aroma, or the flavor, they go without saying. But the way the chocolate goodness is executed is wonderful. It is a very soft and creamy, yet sweet flavor.

Dark brown pour with creamy head. Aroma and flavor (shockingly) of chocolate and medium-dark roast malts. Something oatmealy about the creamy palate, which pleased me greatly. Pleasing sweet finish. I love chocolate, and I love this beer.

Love at first sip. Pours an opaque brown color with a brown smooth head. Aroma of chocolate and malt. Initial flavor of hershey’s chocolate syrup followed by malt sweetness with a light bitter hop finish. Leaves a pleasant chocolate ice cream aftertaste.

This fine bottled beer pours a deep, dark brown with a small, fine tan head. The head lasts for a while leaving nice lacing on the glass. Amazing! The initial aroma is of chocolate (duh!) but that quickly gives way to the smell of Canadian Whiskey (Crown Royal)! I smelled them side by side and they are identical! The flavor of bittersweet chocolate immediately comes to the front. It settles to a dry sweet chocolate/raspberry middle and finishes with a nice brandy-chocolate warmth.

Pours dark dark brown with a small tan head. Big chocolate aroma. Roasted and chocolate taste. Nice lacing on the glass as well. Creamy texture. A great stout, but this doesn’t come close to equalling Rogue Chocolate Stout.

Pours very creamy, looks like mocha until the nitrogen bubbles up into the head, then it’s very dark brown with a thick off white head. Aroma is just chocolate and malt. The flavor doesn’t have anything more. Mouthfeel is way too smooth. I had it in a 14.9 oz can, and the widget makes it feel a bit like a pub ale, only thicker -- I’ve never enjoyed that weird nitrogen bubbling. Overall a very boring beer.
