Bottle. Black color with a medium brown head. Bitter sweet chocolate flavors with a touch of roasted malts at the finish. It really pays to let this one warm as it grows increasingly rich and creamy and the chocolate bursts forward. A lighter body than I expected (but still appreciated).

UPDATED: JAN 24, 2003 (need re-rate) Very nice stout. Unfortunately I poured it too cold,
and thus missed out on much of the aroma.
All-in-all, it's a wonderfully well-balanced beer.
Not as hoppy, or as complex as the 'Big,bad Stout' theme that
is en vogue among American craft brewers.
Has perhaps the 'perfect head', a creamy, persistent,
pretty, yet not over-the-top. I walked away
with a smile after drinking this one.

This screams chocolate but I found it too be too creamy and too smooth, almost like milk. A good stout, just not the one for me.

Black color, a medium sized cascading head. Aroma is chocolaty. Nice a chocolaty. Like drinking a chocolate milkshake, except it a beer. The sweetness of the chocolate malts is intensified by the additions of real dark chocolate. Sweet and malty, yet there is some hop bite. Very smooth, creamy tasting stout. Great desert beer, or a great stout on a cool winter evening. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

UPDATED: JAN 30, 2007 Chocolate aroma, dark black with a big tan head, pretty heavy lacing. Flavor of roast and chocolate with a creamy finish. Much better than the canned version

Talk about chocolate! Very sweet, take small sips and enjoy it. Good warm or cold, best if somewhere in between.

Probably drank too cold. Apparent chocolate taste. I think I should have purchased the bottled version.
