they really do add chocolate to it. Must be drunk last at meal end or at end of a session. Colour and chcoolate aroma. Its unique. But it doesn’t all quite blend together.

Went to the store with an imperial stout in mind, but didn’t find the brewer I was looking for. Bought this instead. This is the beer that taught me to go along with recommended serving temperatures. Here’s why: drink it cold and it’s all coffee and bitters. As it draws nigh to room temperature, the chocolate really starts to come out, and suddenly you have a much more complex beer in your glass. Looked okay, was a tad watery for my tastes, and the head was nice. Over all it’s a nice dessert beer, but I would make sure your guests have other dark options, especially for dinner.

An extremely flavorful stout. A rich and creamy pour. Great coffee and chocolate taste. Really rich. I will usually take my time drinking this one as it is so good.

very dark in colour, almost black. Aroma is made up by coffee and chocolate. Flavor is like a cup of coffee with cream and chocolate. Palate is smooth and velvet like.

Nitro can. So, appearance merits a 5/5, I don't care who you are; completely opaque black with an absolute monster light tan, frothy head. Aroma is like a cup of coffee with chocolate in it. The flavor--wow--is like cocoa-flavored coffee with tons of cream and a whole bunch of sugar; toffee, too. A very, very light touch of bitterness at the end. Feels silky and rich and creamy--ahhh. Overall, this is an absolutely wildly good beer. This is NOT, though, a session beer. I had serious trouble getting through a single can without becoming ill. Overall, you have got to give this a shot.

What more can you say about chocolate beer? Very frothy, plenty of head (which even tastes great). It has a full stout flavor yet is distinctly chocolate, good mix of both worlds. This is a beer where the can is better than the bottle, in my humble opinion. If you are straight stout afficionado, avoid this, but if you want something different, a must drink!

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Color is a solid black, with a large, lush, lovely brown head. Aroma: soft and creamy, with a subdued cocoa content, sweet and mild. On the palate, however, things take a change for the decidedly better!
Niiiiiice, oh, so, nice, with substantial chocolate feeling, although it doesn't actually come in strong at first. At the end of the swallow, there it is, that real chocolate essence. WOW! Ever so tasty, and I'm not even such a chocolate nut, but you've got to give it up, there it is, and it tastes great!!!
Hops are minimal, here, and malt is king! Texture is smooth, and taste is sublime!
You never forget the chocolate, for the flavor subsists, and is sublime!
Fully integrated, perfectly balanced, this is one excellent stout, with an excellent addition of flavor! Another great one from Young's!
The delicious flavor never ever ends after the bottle empties, but the flavor lingers long after!
(I've had it in the nitro-can, too, and it was not enhanced by that gimmick!)

My roommate and I were dreading tasting this one because we couldn't imagine a good tasting chocolate beer. It wasn't the best beer by any means but it was definitely good and unique. Very dark with a creamy head and pretty smooth. Smells similar to Guiness and Murphy's but tastes good. Better then a swift kick in the balls.

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2004 Draught. This beer is sex in a glass. I am not a huge fan of a rich chocolate taste in beer, so I was a bit concerned going into this one. But, it was very close to perfect. Beautiful pour with a tan 2 finger head. To my suprise there was not a whole lot of aroma. The taste is sweet-the chocolate is there, but is not at all overpowering. Very malty. A great mouthfeel, coats like a velvet robe. Finish is strong and slightly bitter, with just a hint of lemon/vanilla. This is a GREAT beer that is very smooth and rewarding.
