4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: DEC 12, 2007 (500 ml bottle, ABV 5,2%). Black (actually very dark ruby) with a good tan head and nice lacing. Aroma is all chocolate and roasted malts. When you expect something cloyingly sweet (chocolate in beer - "uff da"!): Surprise! - a perfectly rounded and well balanced flavour, loads of chocolate but never sickly, just the right roasted bitterness in the aftertaste. This beer is a real treat - I would be happy to drink it each and every afternoon, but just one bottle a day!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pour is deep black, large medium brown head, slowly diminishes to leave good lacing. Aroma is strong on the chocolate, and some roasted malts in the back. Flavor starts almost like hot chocolate, ends with some mild roasted bitter maltiness. Body is full and strong. Not something I would drink every night, but quite a tasty brew.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle is much better than the canned version. Dark brown beer with slight lacing, instead of the huge widget-induced head from the can. Taste of dark malt, sweet chocolate, hops, with a bitter finish.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep black with medium brown head. Smells very spicy, of chocolate, with a very strong aroma. Has an alcoholic/chemical smell. Very smokey flavor, frothy taste at first then thinner and lighter. The aftertaste is smooth and milky.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a nice deep dark ruby black color with a long lasting tan head. Aroma was minimal, but a little roastiness poked through. Flavor is an excellent subtle sweet chocolate with a decent bitter backbone. The most impressive quality of the beer is it's velvety smooth palate. An excellent brew.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
I really have a problem with "Chocolate Stouts. They never taste like chocolate! I know its the malt used, well anyway I had it from the can. A nice medium bodied dark ale. Aroma suggests a sweeter brew than this, that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Beer is very dark. Nice roasted malt flavor. Bitter finish.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Beautiful to watch. Dark reddish brown with a big thick creamy head. Aroma is sweet. Chocolate and cocoa are present. This isn't a bad beer, but it reminded me of Swiss Miss.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sits in the glass in perfect black beauty. Thick creamy head. Plenty of cocoa in the aroma as well as molasass, licorice. Loads of wonderful chocolate flavor as promised. Not as full bodied as its appearance idicates, but very well balanced. A great treat after a big meal.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
This beer is wonderful to watch after pouring as it has the waterfall effect where the head separates from the beer. It is extremely dark and the head finishes into a fluffy dark color because of the darkness of the beer. There is very little aroma to this one. The chocolate in the taste makes this beer extremely enjoyable as it covers over the taste of the alcohol.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
It does not make a big impression in the aroma. Fine, dark color and good head. Great taste, with lots of bitterness and chocolate.
