Thanks goes out to Mustang3 for hooking this one up! Pours a dark black body, thin beige head topping it. Aromas are sweet coffee, malts, slight chocolate. Earthy as well. Taste is sweet, bitter chocolate, coffee, cocoa. Dry and bitter finish. A nice treat! Thanks Kevin!

Tap. Beautiful pour. Deep color with long-lasting head. Very creamy and lightly carbonated. A good drinking stout, though tough to compare to bigger stouts. Finishes lightly bitter and roasty.

Poured black with a large, frothy light tan head, lookin good...not so surprisingly, aroma of chocolate. The taste is good but somewhat hurt by the watery mouthfeel. The chocolate presence is just right, and a mild hop bitterness to compliment it, but lacking in body for me to be impresed.

500ml bottle. Pours deep black with just a bit of red glow around the edges when held up to the light. Nice layer of creamy tan head. Aromas of perked coffee, butter, mild cocoa and sweet cream. Palate is smooth, but a bit on the thin side. Roast and coffee flavors with some burnt toast. A little sour. Chocolate is very subtle up front, but has a growing presense. Some chalky bitterness in the finish. A pleasant but unexceptional stout. What is there is quite good--but there isn’t enough of it to be that interesting.

Tasted from 500mL bottle. Simply beautiful. Despite the double chocolate monniker chocolatey flavors are well integrated and don’t overpower. Deep black color. Slight roasty flavors initially followed by a light bitterness from dark chocolate. Incredibly smooth, thick mouthfeel. Yummy.

Wow, this was a suprisingly smooth beer. There were no harsh flavors at all, and there was a subtle aroma of chocolate. This is a genuinely good beer, and I recommend trying it if you have the chance.

First impression was "oh no, another burnt tasting beer." But there is much more to this stout than that. Incredibly dark in color. Light would not penetrate. It also sports a significant chocolate colored head. First taste was of a strong stout but it tended to smooth out over the course of the pint. Very unusual.

The 500 ml bottle poured with a huge light brown head and a beautiful "double dark" ebony body (ruby red, really, if you hold it to a light). There was some excellent lacing left on the glass by the time I finished. A strong aroma gives only a hint of its chocolate billing, but I sensed mostly dark roasted malt and a strong hops. I was surprised by the initial dry sherry palate with raisin, coffee and smoke flavors. This stout is smooth start to finish and also fairly dry. The subtle chocolate essence doesn’t really punch through until after the finish when it features prominently in the long-lasting aftertaste.

Tap. Extremely black with a brown, foamy head. Smells chocolatey, but the chocolate taste is actually quite subtle. Also has coffee and malt notes. This is a satisfying beer to be sipped slowly—it’s not strong in alcohol but it’s full of deep, rich flavor. I highly recommend this to premenstrual women—goes well with chocolate-covered pretzels! I’ve had this in the bottle and nitro can—nitro can is best if you can’t find it on tap.
