on tap. Great beer. dark brown to blackish. great thick light brown head. the aroma is weak but has hints of cocoa in it. the mouthfeel is very rich and full. the head is creamy and lasts the entire time. the flavor is very pleasant. chocolate melds with the strength of this beer wonderfully.
That last rating was on tap, i enjoyed it so much that i tried it from a bottle. Big mistake, the flavors did not blend anywhere near as well. it was sour and of course not nearly as smooth. I leave the score the same because i enjoyed the draught pint so much, but i needed to mention this problem.

Good overall flavor and mellow, pleasant finish. Of course, a lot of chocolate. Although they say the bottle is better, I donít mind the draught can, probably because I love the creamy head from the widget.

Re-rate: A very interesting an special beer! Very dark and with a beautiful head! Though, a little too heavy taste of cocoa after a while!

BUT, 2.5 yrs on from expirery date, it takes on a whole new persona.
Itís pretty good. There, I admit it.

A very smooth and delectible beer, the double chocolate stout goes down amazingly easy and has a pleasant aftertaste. The stout is very dark, with a bit of lightness at the top near the head which is about 1/2 an inch when poured into a pint glass. Had on tap at the local brewpub. The aroma is not strong, but has a faint hint of chocolate. I was expecting a bit more from the initial aroma. Overall though, this beer is a delight with a very smooth trip down and an aftertaste that quite a few beers could learn from. Kudos to the Youngs.

This is a good stout. Very chocolatey. I canít compare it to the bottled version, but it was an enjoyable beer.

Nice stout, the chocolate is definitely detectable, but not overwhelming. Has a nice chocolatey aroma as well.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A great stout. Very drinkable and smooth. Youngs has got the art of putting drinkability into a bottle or can. The chocolate blends well with the maltiness.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Outstanding. Full and smooth with loads of chocolate. Nice sweet maltiness, but not over done. Fantastic chocolate flavor with evident hops in the finish, causing the perfect amount of bitterness.
