my love affair with Youngs continues with what has become my favorite stout... no comparison to Guinness. opaque with fine beige lacing, aroma/flavor of chocolate, yes, but also strong coffee. nitro cans are the best. this is the stout that makes me look forward to chilly weather... and i dislike chilly weather!

Dark brown color with a medium brown head that foams up from the bottom similar to Guiness. Aroma of chocolate, and maybe a hint of licorice. Exceptionally smooth body with a heavy flavor of chocolate and malts. No aftertaste. I don’t think I could drink alot, but as an occasional treat, this is an outstanding beverage.

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2004 First thing is first, there was chocolate in the nose and the aftertaste reminded me of drinking chocolate syrup out of the bottle. not something I would want in the middle of summer, but it was a fun winter beer to have. It had a nice chewy palate, and a great dark brown colour with a soft foamy tan head.

Nearly opaque dark dark dark brown pour, nice tan head (figures...nitro can) Aroma is unremarkable chocolate, but nice at the same time. Flavor is mostly chocolate, with some coffee and alcohol tones coming through as it warms. Pretty unidimensional with dark chocolate, though, but nice all the same. Body is medium-light. Finsih is rich and coffee.

Looks like a typical nitro stout, dark and flat with a creamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. Flavor is pretty nice, like a hershey bar with alcohol, with some notes of roasted coffee. Finishes thin and watery. I’ll have to try the non-nitro version sometime to compare.

Pours very dark caramel color, with dark tan head. Taste of Chocolate and coffee with similar aroma. Absolutely fantastic brew.

This beer was a huge surprise. I expected a bitter/sweet taste with the inability to finish the entire bottle. Wow, was I surprised. This is in a class of its own. The chocolate kicks in at just the right moment and dosen’t linger or over power the fullness of the brews core. Cheers!

(bottle) lovely black with nice tan head (no lace). Aroma of coffee and chocolate. Flavor is the same-roasted coffee and black chocolate. Would be a good stout for a beer float

Pours black with a small light brown head that left no lacing. Smells of semi-sweet chocolate. Tastes of rich chocolate with a slightly bitter roasted finish. Not as sweet as I expected. Try it poured over coffee ice cream.

High thick creamy brown head that disappears slowly. Very potent aroma, where chocolate comes out obviously. Body is dark brown to balck, with obvous chocolate taste, but also coffee. All of this blended with a hoppy aftertaste. Altogether a very good and filling beer for dessert or late evening.
