3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Almost black colour with a decent head. Aroma is very appealing (mostly cocoa). The flavour is extremely smooth and creamy. A very nice dessert - yum-yum. (My bottle was 5.2% ABV)

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Beautiful black/ruby color with a lush oily tan head. Chocolate nose (saw that one comeing) with some dry stout roastieness. More chocolate with dry coffee in the mouth but a little thin feeling and some acridness in the finish. Good but needed a bit more oomph.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: MAY 10, 2004 Very light, smooth drinking beer with more creamy overtones than chocolate - reminds me of some of the irish cream stouts. Not a lot in the flavor department but very drinkable. I could put back a few of these in one sitting, unlike some stouts.

3.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Black as tar and almost as thick. Brown head with large bubbles. Musty malt aroma. Malt taste up front with a chocolate finish. Suprisingly not overly sweet. Lingering chocolate aftertaste. Smooth and creamy palate, quite easy drinking.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: SEP 29, 2006 Also my second try of this beer. Saw the reviews and thought there must be something I missed. Good roasted flavor, sweet. Good beer, but not that memorable.

Second time to try this beer. First was on tap, this one out of the bottle. The bottled version did little to improve my initial impression. Not as chocolatey as I had expected (try Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout or Rogue Chocolate Stout). Actually, it is a very mild stout. Not as full bodied as I would like in a stout. Good, but nothing spectacular.
