Draft on nitro at Good-Ta-Go in Chambersburg, PA. Served in a pint glass, very dark brown with creamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, bready and light coffee note. Taste adds notes of vanilla, caramel, more of a milk chocolate with slight hop bitterness. Medium body, low carbonation (nitro), creamy, rich, soft with roasty sweet finish. Very nice chocolate stout.

Bottle, 500ml. A dark beer with a reddish hue at the bottom and a big creamy brown head. It has a strong aroma of chocolate and coffee. It also has pecan nuts and a hint of almonds. Taste is bitter, well-balanced and with a strong finish. Rich and robust. Tastes like chocolate. I think this is an excellent beer and one of my all-time favorites!

Bottle - this is exactly what I hoped for from this beer, absolutely fantastic. Pours dark black with a light brown head which gradually bubbles away to a thin coating. Weak lacing. Aroma of vanilla, cocoa, chocolate and light toastiness with some coffee notes. Taste is light toastiness and nuttiness followed by sweet coffee, chocolate and vanilla. Heavy body, light carbonation.

Poured from bottle into Stella glass. Pours jet black with a dark tan one finger head. Aroma is very chocolatey, dark roasted caramel. Sweet chocolate on the taste buds. More on the chocolate side but still a touch of coffee. Very smooth and drinkable stout.

Made the mistake of starting with an imperial stout, then a bourbon barrel stout , now this double chocolate. Disappointed expected more smoothness and sweetness. But then again started with the best, should have started with this stout. Not bad but wouldn’t go out of my way for it. Too bitter and acid on my palate. finish is ok, but looking for that smooth velvety chocolate sweeter finish

Aroma: 5/10. Basic malt and some hops. -- Appearance: 5/5, pours a beautiful black with a tan-brown head that lingers a little while. -- Taste: 7/10. Intense cocoa and chocolate, but mostly cocoa, with some malt. Not much layers to this one. -- Palate: 4/5. Decent mouthfeel. Somewhat astringent. Very dry, like Guiness. -- Overall: 14/20. Not a bad beer, but not a great one. A focus on cocoa rather ignores the underlying weakness of the body and taste of the beer. It’s like Guiness with more cocoa. Not particularly impressed.

Pours nearly black with a big, frothy head. The aroma has plenty of roasty maltiness with notes of chocolate, nuts and bisquit. Taste is medium sweet, light roasty and very much influenced by chocolate. Dark chocolate dominates the flavours; only a hint of other malty nuances appear. Light hoppiness, light bitterness in the finish. The medium-bodied palate is velvety smooth with a low carbonation. A bit one-dimensional; too sweet and too much chocolate and not enough roastiness.
