Poured from a 1 pt. bottle into an English pint glass. Pours a very dark brown, almost black and is slightly hazy. Head is large, creamy and light brown, turns slightly rocky then diminishes to a thin layer of foam but never leaves completely. Good lacing. Nose consists of a dark toasted chocolate with a faint hint of raisin (like Raisinettes!) with moderate earthy yeasty odor. Can’t detect any hops at all. Initial flavor is of moderately sweet roasted chocolate and finishes slightly tart. It’s a medium-bodies brew with a creamy texture with a slight metallic/tannic feel. Carbonation is lively out of the bottle, but quickly settles down and becomes soft, almost flat.

Tap at j Ryans with commonmac and rosskyle and samadouche. On nitro. Black with thick tan head and excellent lacing. Dark malt aroma. Very smooth. Chocolate. Does what it’s supposed to, but could have done even more.

Pours a dark caramel color with small foam head. Aroma is of coffee, toffee, chocolate. Taste starts off slightly bitter with hints of chocolate and coffee. Soft carbonation. In my opinion it could have used a little more carbonation. This stout is similar to Samuel Smith’s Chocolate Stout only not as sweet. A good desert beer.

Bottle at home listening to records. I like this. Obvious taste of chocolate and very moreish. Only quibble is it’s a bit watery for a stout.
