3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from a 1 pt. bottle into an English pint glass. Pours a very dark brown, almost black and is slightly hazy. Head is large, creamy and light brown, turns slightly rocky then diminishes to a thin layer of foam but never leaves completely. Good lacing. Nose consists of a dark toasted chocolate with a faint hint of raisin (like Raisinettes!) with moderate earthy yeasty odor. Can’t detect any hops at all. Initial flavor is of moderately sweet roasted chocolate and finishes slightly tart. It’s a medium-bodies brew with a creamy texture with a slight metallic/tannic feel. Carbonation is lively out of the bottle, but quickly settles down and becomes soft, almost flat.

Pours with a 2" tan head with a whipped cream consistency. Good lacing after head collapses. Very little aroma. Jet black color. No strong chocolate flavor up front but mid to late you get more bitter dark choc notes. Not as bold of taste as I had expected for a 2x Choc stout that uses added choc flavor. Moderate bitterness masks any sweetness or roasty caramel from malts. Medium body, not as creamy feel compared with other stouts. I wished for stronger choc notes and aroma and sweetness as well as creamier mouthfeel. I respect the focus on the bitterness more that the caramel notes so not to have cloying sweetness , but would like just hint more caramel character to balance things. Overall a decent choc stout, not sure where the "double" comes from except perhaps for the predominantly dry bitter aftertaste.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured an opaque black with thick creamy light brown head that lasted nicely. Aroma of dark malts with a touches of coffee and cocoa. Taste initially dark roasted grains, moving to bitterness, then the dark chocolate comes rolling in lasting a very long while. Balanced carbonation, silky mouthfeel, great finish.

Flaska från SB. Svart med moccafärgat skum. Doftar mjölkchoklad av billigare sort framför allt, också rostade toner. Smakinslag av desamma samt utspätt kaffe. Chokladen blir väl mycket till slut.

Poured from a can at Alan Wicker’s Sports Bar in Plano. A smooth stout with obvious, but not punch-you-in-the-face chocolate flavor. I’d like to try this on tap. It might be even better.

Draft at Dandelion in Philly. Huge pour of tan head. It literally engulfed the whole glass. Black with thick head and lasting lace. Flavor of dark roasted malt, chocolate and wood. Full bodied and dry finish.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma: chocolate, roasty
Appearance: dark brown with minimal light brown head.
Taste: roasty with hints of chocolate, but not as much chocolate as expected,
Finishes quickly with slight hint of semisweet chocolate. Has medium body and texture.
Overall, pretty good but expected more chocolate and body.

Coloração bem escura, preta. Formou boa espuma bege. No aroma se destaca o chocolate, café ao fundo. No gosto se repetem o chocolate e o café. Amargor de café aparece bastante no retrogosto. Bela combinação. Uma das minhas stouts prediletas.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
