Wow, what a great beer. Almost black in color with a creamy head. The mouth feel was as if I were chewy on a chocolate bar, smooth and creamy. This is certainly one of the best beers I have ever tasted.

Coloração escura com espuma bege persistente. Aroma adocicado levemente terroso. Cerveja boa de beber, de corpo leve com chocolate adocicado no meio, seguido de torrefação final.

Bottle. Black with a lasting beige head. Smooth roasted chocolate aroma with coffee, whipped cream, cocoa, nuts, dark bread, some smoke. Clean dry and roasted taste with cocoa powder, chocolate, oats, roasted sour malt, some herbs and coffee. Duration is rather short with a lightly ashy and fruity, bitter burnt finish, low bitterness.

Dark brown, almost black in colour, solid head. In aroma lots of dark chocolate, low roastiness, caramel. In the flavour mainly chocolate, low sweet, quite dry. Great chocolate beer.

Ładna beżowa, utrzymująca się piana. Trunek klarowny barwy ciemnej delikatnie przechodzącej w malachitowy. Klarowne. Aromaty głównie czekoladowe, minimalnie kawa i palony jęczmień.

500ml bottle from Tesco. Milk chocolate biscuit with some blackcurrant on the nose but something else too. Something that shouldn’t be there. Something medicinal, like a cough syrup, spoiling the aroma. This carries over on the taste and the finish with a hint of hop bitterness. No, not for me, this one. Disappointing as it was once a good sweet stout.

0.5l bottle. Slightly rubyish black body, beige head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee with some figs and reisins. Even some vanilla,Taste of sour cherry, chocolate, coffee, caramel and minimal floral hops. The finish is a bit bitter both because of the hops and the black malts. Light medium body and low carbonation. Very nice. I wonder how it would perform on nitro.

Dry mid to low carbonation. Cool light body with silky chocolate, nut, and roasted malts. Surprisingly light but with a nice balanced flavor. The chocolate is obvs there but not overpronounced. I prefer heavier bolder stouts, but this one is nice.

Aroma: In the smell we have some dried sweet fruits, bitter cocoa and coffee beans, and some burnt bread aromas. A musky aroma like old peas.
Appearance: The beer is dark, very dark, brown, a beige head that leaves lots of lacing.
Taste: The smell has dry sweet fruits, figs and dates, burnt malt, overdone toast, smoke aroma like an old burnt tree plate, dry bitter notes as a finish.
Palate: Low carbonation, a very dry finish.
Overall: Almost a bit too dry, need some smoothing dessert to come to full right.
Note: Bottle. Reviewed 2010-08-03.

Drank this several times. The key is to get a bottle that isn’t a shelf turd. I have had some wonderful experiences and some metallic/stale ones as well. If you get it proper, this beer is great. Check your bottle date and stored conditions.
