Production moved from Youngs to Wells & Youngs in 2007.
Ingredients: Pale ale and crystal malt, chocolate malt, special blend of sugars, Fuggle and Goldings hops, real dark chocolate and chocolate essence.
Chocolate malt and real dark chocolate are combined with Young's award winning rich, full flavoured dark beer to craft a satisfyingly indulgent, but never overly sweet experience.

Bottle. Very thin bodied and lightly carbonated. Pours with a nice head nonetheless. Aroams and flavors are dominated by chocolate, however there is just enough hoppiness in the finish to make it interesting. Gets better when it warms.

Pour looks thick with a dark tan head. Aroma is full of sweet malt, chocolate, some lactose, and oats. Flavor is just like drinking chocolate milk. Palate is real smooth and chocolaty with sweet malts and a hint of bitterness. Real good and easily drinkable beer. Would buy again.

Lovely aroma of chocolate, almost smells like kahlua mixed in with it. Appearence is as one would expect, jet black with a dark mocha brown head. Flavour is perhaps a bit thinner than expected, there is lovely chocolate flavours, again a touch of coffee/kahlua and a gentle but persistant bitterness.

I’d rather this not come in cans, but what an unbelievable stout. A dark chocolate flavor which suggests actual chocolate use and not just flavoring. A heavy winter desert drink.

Dark brown, well.... dark chocolate, roasted malts, nutty, little coffee, sweet, smooth, simple.
