Fantastic stout with a wonderful flavor. A treat & change of pace for stout and Porter lovers, as the flavor is very good, but I would have been more impressed had they not had to add actual chocolate to achieve the flavor.

Bottle. Black with brown lasting head. Much chocolate in the aroma and tast, but not to much. Taste is a bit tart witch combines great with the swwet chocolate taste and the bitter aftertaste. A different and intersting chocolate stout.

Rich aroma of cocoa and espresso. Opaque near-black colour. Flavours of roasty malt, coffee, with dark chocolate notes; smooth front with a sustained bitter finish. Heavy body with medium carbonation. This is a rich and enjoyable brew.

Bottle. Pours jet black with 2 finger tan head. Good retention. Aroma of dark malt, coffee, treacle and burnt cedar. On tasting these notes subside and are usurped by opulent espresso and cocoa. A lot of people like to slate this beer proclaiming it to lack chocolate at all. I’ve had 7 bottles so far this year and each bottle had a strong dark cocoa body. Oily texture. Nice and full. Very morish. Finish is long with bitter cocoa lingering. Excellent beer to enjoy with a meal. Ignore the indigent press from the elitist beer snobs. Top stout!

The beer that made me love stouts. Pours pitch black with a tan head that disappears relatively quickly. At first when very cold there are aromas of coffee and roasted malts, the magic happens as the beer begins to warm in the hand, with the dark cocoa aromas coming out in full force, almost like a quality dark chocolate bar! The taste is that of espresso with with a wonderful chocolate aftertaste. There is a good balance between bitter and sweet elements, likely the chocolate malts and hops interacting. Feels creamy and velvety in the mouth. Definitely a "rich" tasting beer, I wouldn’t knock back 2 or 3 of these at a time. Excellent beer and should go well with roasted and grilled meats, or as a dessert after dinner!
