This isn’t one of my favorite beers, but I thought I had better come back and rate it because I’ve found myself drinking it more often lately. Definitely lots of dark chocolate flavors in this. It’s somewhere between Bell’s Expedition Stout and Guinness in the mouthfeel.... a little on the watery side compared to good stuff, but it’s pretty drinkable and is better than most stuff you can buy in a can. Something that you might not know, is that this is a wonderful beer to mix. Try this mixed 50/50 with Lindemans Framboise for a "chocolate covered raspberry" (this is a girl drink, but dudes like it too, it just tastes good), or have this with a couple scoops of ice cream in it for an awesome beer float. That might sound blasphemous, but just try it and you’ll find yourself craving it. =)

Aroma isnt very strong, with notes of chocolate, dark bread, toffee and a bit of some herbs Tastes great, really nice balance between medium strong sweetness and bitterness, leaves a long chocolate aftertaste. Closer to full body, could be a bit less carbonated and more creamy (still nice, though)

Bottle at pub. Pours black with beige head. Aroma is creamy, roasted, cocoa and some coffee. Taste is close to dark chocolate, caramel and also bit of coffee. Long finish. Nice but bit dissapointing.

Barwa czarna, nieprzejrzysta. Przyjemne piwo do sączenia

A can bought from the basement of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, opposite Taipei Main Station, drunk at home. Aroma: defintiely chocolatey - milk, if you asked me to specify. Appearance: practically black, with a nice-looking frothy tan head. Palate: light-bodied, rather thin. Soft carbonation, rather abrupt finish. Taste: bitterness is balanced with sweetness from the chocolate. Other flavours detected are coffee and caramel. I read that this was the first beer to use actual chocolate as an ingredient, and as such I class it as a novelty beverage. Not my cup of tea at all - if I want chocolate, I’ll buy a bar of the stuff.

Small sample during Carnivale Brettanomyces ’16. Pours almost pitch black with a medium tan head. Aroma of milk chocolate, quite some sweetness, bit of roast, lactic. Taste is very sweet with milk chocolate and some lactic notes. Medium body and carbo.

440ml at Checkers. Pours a very dark brown with garnet highlights. The rocky tan head has excellent retention and leaves some lacing. Aromas of chocolate (dark and milk), bright red fruit, some stone fruit (plum). Palate is medium body and medium carbonation. Flavour of cocoa, vanilla, some dark fruit, coffee. If it was slightly richer with a bit less carbonation, it would have been a great beer.

Fraværende skum fra min flaske. Mørkt, klart øl med aromatoner av kaffe og mørk kokesjokolade. Smak av ristet malt, noe manglende sødme for typen. Fin ettersmak med sjokoladetoner i bakgrunnen. Litt for tynn i kroppen, men passe karbonert.

Great chocolate and a little bit of coffee taste, richness of favor, plus robust body.
