MrAleman (117), Wiltshire, England Sep 9, 2008 Delicious youngs ale, full of hoppy malts, beautifully created for a delightful all round taste, recommended by the aleman ;) LordCrabapple (81), Merseyside, England May 3, 2008 Updated: Apr 25, 2009Golly gumdrops! My first sip of this beer, I have to say, was a disappointment. But by the end I wanted more. A ’cracking’ brew to ’crack’ open, in the bizarre language of beer ’bloggers’. I doubt Lady Crabapple would like this one, but I thought it was a marvellous beer, sharp and light. johndoughty (2005), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England Apr 18, 2009 Bottle. Golden orange appearance with a hoppy aroma. Bitter with quite a sharp edge.Well bottled and quite an impressive BCA. hughie (2735), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England May 6, 2008 Dark gold. A little yeast in the aroma with the old fashioned malt. A pleasant retro touch. Some citrus, some malt, followed by some medium hops. Probably because it was a lovely, golden, warm evening here in the Shire, I particularly relished this beer. AndrewC (63), Canterbury, Kent, England May 31, 2009 Pale gold. Bit lemon and grass flavours dominate. Very drinkable beer and didn’t taste at all like a bottled beer. I guess being cask conditioned helps but it did taste like a cask beer. Rock n Roll. azlondon (622), Fribourg, Switzerland Sep 4, 2008 Appearance: Golden, tiny amount of off-white head. Hazy.
Aroma: Hops and citrus. Honey.
Taste: Lots of hops, but not overpowering. Citrus, hint of honey. Nice aftertaste.
Info: 500ml bottle, 4/9-2008 leaparsons (4460), Leicester, Leicestershire, England May 17, 2008 Bottle. Golden with a small head. Aromas are biscuit malts, citrus and yeast. Flavours are dry and yeasty with soft lemon. Light sweet grapefruit bitterness. Quite resinous lemon towards the finish. Spritzy on the palate. A good BCA. johninmelb (671), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England May 4, 2008 Some cereal on the nose underpinned by citrus/orange notes. Pours a deep, irn-bruey gold with a light white head. Flavour is fresh and hoppy with some melon, some grapefruit, and a gentle presence of honey malt. Finish is dry yet thirst-quenching with a slightly disappointing quick tapering. Over all a very fine ale.
