Pours appropriately dark and creamy. Light aroma of grassy hops and dark-roasted, bready malt. Has a drier profile than Sam Smith's oatmeal, less fruity, less complex. Simple and pretty smooth with a mostly burnt toast and bitter hops character. Some sweetness lightly, some tartness, ending nicely bitter.

Dark brown, almost black opaque colour with creamy light brown head. Aroma without notice of an alcohol, but with notice of toffee, milk chocolate, coffee. Taste is similar: with slight or poor notice of an alcohol, and dominant notes of oat, milk chocolate and toffee. You can detect also little roasted. Malt sweetness is medium, also hop bitterness. Finish is dry and slightly bitter . Body is mouth-coating.

"i’m grading this half way between what i’d give the bottle (better) and the can (worse). the flavor is nice, but like a Guiness, when it’s on nitro, it’s too unassuming. kinda boring, but smooth. the flavor comes out a little more in the bottle. the double chocolate, on the other hand, is better in the can...and better period."

Typical representative of the oatmeal stout style revived by Samuel Smith in the seventies. Loose, irregular, yellowish beige head, colour near black with reddish hue, clear. Strong malty aroma, roasted grains, caramel, coffee, toasted bread, dried plums, candied dates, raisins, subtle spicy hops. Mellow, creamy and velvety palate, very soft, fruity with a gentle, not too sharp roasted bitterness, dryish but not so much as an actual dry stout, long finish with elegant spicy hoppiness, subtle.
