Pours with a large, tightly carbonated, dark-tan head ... which is strange because the beer is very low in carbonation, tasting almost flat. Fairly small nose: roasted coffee, slight hops and a bit of sweetness. Overall flavors are very light: some bakers chocolate and roasted coffee. Finish is short.
Decent beer - but this is a very light style. Easy to drink - good intro beer to light beer lovers.

Sample from 50 cl. bottle, B.B. August 2007. Near black with ruby hues. Small, creamy tan head. Roasted aroma with fruits, chocolate, faint smoke and coffee. Diacetyl - basement aroma. Medium body, creamy texture. Finishes bitter with roasted notes. Some bitterness after all! Does not age with grace, drink it fresh.

500ml bottle pours almost black, but when held to the light it reveals some reddish highlights and pours with a finger of light beige head which leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is chocolate and roasted grains with some aromatic hops. Taste is chocolate malt sweetness with an English type hop bitterness. As far as oatmeal stouts go, this one rivals St. Ambroise oatmeal stout. Nicely done.

Bottled, 500ml, a present, cheers Stu. Very dark brown, ruby hint with cream head. Full bodied, rich, smooth, some liquorice and a grainy sweetness. There is a wine like back flavour mixed with the chocolate malts. Very decent indeed.

Tasted from bottle into nonic pint glass. Poured an opaque dark brown color with dense, creamy tan foam, persistent with good lacing. Roasty aromas of coffee, burnt toast, husky grains, mellow malt, refined English hops, fruity fermentation. Malty-sweet balanced by tart hops and roasted barley, flavors of café au lait, black bread, caramelized brown sugar, baking chocolate, dried dark fruit. Medium body, average carbonation. Very creamy, full mouthfeel, lingering bittersweet aftertaste. Extremely tasty and surprisingly refreshing for such a dark beer.

On keg at S.Brevinga Alus, Riga. A black beer with a thick, light tan head. Aroma of coffee, caramel and oats. Flavours of chocolate, caramel, coffee and oats. A foamy mouth-feel with mild carbonation and CO2 prickle. A little thin.
