On tap at Stout NYC -- nice and creamy half inch tan head lasting half a pint, and a shiny ebony hue (in the dimly lit beer bar). First pull savor the fine roast aroma and taste of a nicely balanced sweet and silky (and somewhat malty) oatmeal stout. Very nice indeed.

Keg at the riverside. Opaque black coloured pour with a steadfast creamy head. Aroma is soft roast, choc and light berry. Palate is smooth and somewhat creamy. Flavour is milky choc, lactose sugar, soft roast. OK

"iím grading this half way between what iíd give the bottle (better) and the can (worse). the flavor is nice, but like a Guiness, when itís on nitro, itís too unassuming. kinda boring, but smooth. the flavor comes out a little more in the bottle. the double chocolate, on the other hand, is better in the can...and better period."

Typical representative of the oatmeal stout style revived by Samuel Smith in the seventies. Loose, irregular, yellowish beige head, colour near black with reddish hue, clear. Strong malty aroma, roasted grains, caramel, coffee, toasted bread, dried plums, candied dates, raisins, subtle spicy hops. Mellow, creamy and velvety palate, very soft, fruity with a gentle, not too sharp roasted bitterness, dryish but not so much as an actual dry stout, long finish with elegant spicy hoppiness, subtle.

Almost black with a creamy white head. Aroma of chocolate and burnt malt. Very smooth.

Bottle from backlog notes. Pours dark brown to black in color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted and sweet malts, chocolate, decent flavor, mild bitterness with good mouthfeel.

Draught, Celtic Dolmen - Irish pub in Novosibirsk.
Color - dark brown, almost black, is opaque.
Foam - abundant, delicate cream ( light beige ) color, fine-grained, dense and very resistant, stick to the walls of the glass.
Aroma - cocoa beans, chocolate, coffee and light refreshments grassy notes.
Body is not very dense, carbonation is weak, soft carbonation.
The taste is very mild, delicate, all the classic ingredients for stout - light black patent malt, dark chocolate, coffee. The aftertaste is long, coffee- burning, somewhat dry. No bitterness and kislosti sweets also virtually none.
Taste reminded me Youngs Double Chocolate Stout. Now I am puzzled - how to make a comparative tasting. Understand what is the difference.
Just gorgeous Stout! Highly recommended!

A very decent oatmeal stout. Smooth body and mouthfeel with a sweet character, chocolate with a bit of sourness.

Sample from 50 cl. bottle, B.B. August 2007. Near black with ruby hues. Small, creamy tan head. Roasted aroma with fruits, chocolate, faint smoke and coffee. Diacetyl - basement aroma. Medium body, creamy texture. Finishes bitter with roasted notes. Some bitterness after all! Does not age with grace, drink it fresh.
