Young’s brand taken over by Charles Wells in 2011.
Young’s ’Prince of Ales’ is the perfect marriage of flavours. Full bodied with a clean bitter taste, it’s also balanced with sweet malty fruity notes.

Ethereal (2421) - Los Angeles, California, USA - APR 1, 2012
Cask at the Dog & Fox, Wimbledon Village, 3rd May 2011. Hazy bitty copper. Looks like the end of the barrel (and checking the Youngs press release it was only meant to be on sale until the 2nd). Slightly sour nose, going off. Unimpressive malty taste but I guess it would have been better fresh.

Small offwhite head. Clear amber body. Nutty floral caramel aroma. Dry-sweet nutty wooden caramel taste with straw notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel, faintly slick. Dry-sweetish roasty wooden lacquer aftertaste with resiny strawy dusty notes. Really nice. Highly drinkable. (0.25l cask, Coach & Horses, Barnes, London.)

Cask, handpump at The Kings Arms, Oxford, with Loz, Jude & Baz 30.04.11 Pours dark gold/light amber as I recall but tricky to be certain in the poor light of this pub. Sweet and malty beer and absolutely fine but no great shakes, touch dry some fruitiness. A6 A4 T6 P4 Ov12 3.2
