Bouteille 500ml, courtoisie d’un contact de Victoria, BC. De couleur ambrée-cuivrée et claire. Nez légèrement fruité (agrumes, léger de poires), moyen de caramel doux aux notes de butterscotch, léger de houblon floral et terreux avec des notes de noix. Moyenne-mince en bouche avec un pétillement moyen ainsi qu’une texture aux notes huileuses. Goût très légèrement fruité (agrumes légèrement sucrées, traces d’abricots et de raisins) avec un moyen-léger goût amer de houblon plutôt terreux (présent en arrière-goût toute la gorgée) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût de caramel très doux avec de très faibles notes de butterscotch et de pain puis en finale l’on retrouve de très faibles notes de noix et un houblon plus herbeux. Post-goût moyen, légèrement amer de houblon légèrement terreux aux notes herbeuses avec un très léger goût de noix. (2005)

Bottle @ The Britannia. The pour’s medium amber with a small head. The nose is brown bread, rich toasty malts aromas, honeyed grain. The taste is slightly hot runny toffee, some caramel-covered haystack, nut bar. Mildly astringent on the finish. Medium body, this is one of those beers that drinks above its ABV. Rich, full. A nice ESB for winter.

500ml bottle pours a brownish color with a finger of off-white head which leaves some spotty lacing. Aroma is some dark fruits with some citrus and earthy hops. Taste is a fruity and caramel malty sweetness with a citrusy and earthy hop bitterness. Medium bodied with decent carbonation. A decent ESB which is easy to drink and highly recommended.

Copper orange colour with a white large bubble horrible soapy lasting head. I’m sure the pasturisation is not going to be nice here. Smells of toasted malt, caramel malt and a skunky chamical cardboard staleness from the pasturisation. Medium biscuit oily body. Sweet caramel start with a soft bitter hop dry finish. Very common and average. Some honey sweetness on the aftertaste.

The label may change but the beer is always a good one. The golden hops come through without overwhelming you like an IPA, and the depth of the beer has more to offer than a simpleton.

Bottle at Three Kings in London. Noticeable notes of fruity malts, and some bitter hops to balance the body out. Seeing at this was a struggle to finish, I can’t see myself ever trying it again. Plus, 5% = strong? I dont think so, but it did taste stronger.

Surprisingly light character, malty with hints of spice and caramel, fairly sweet. Nice enough.
