erich2872 (11), Orlando, Florida, USA Jul 18, 2003 Had at The Mitre pub, a cold and unfriendly place. Thankfully the beer was good. Nice brownish color with fruity flavor and almost wooden aroma. Not bitter but smooth and complements the pub food nicely.
wheresthepath (227), Buckinghamshire, England Jun 2, 2008 [On draught at the Boot & Slipper, Amersham] Yet another boring best bitter that tastes the same as all the rest - red fruits, dusty earthy hops. It’s quite smooth and easy to drink, and there’s also a slight hint of orange, making this sweeter than your average bitter. A slight sourness detracts from the beer, and overall I was disappointed that this had come out of the usually good Youngs stable. downender (1533), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England May 30, 2008 Cask-conditioned at the White Cross, Richmond 28/5/08. Reddish-amber coloured with a slight, off-white head. Sweet malt and re fruit aroma with a hint of butter. Flavour was dominated by diacetyl, being extremely buttery with a touch of earthy hop, followed by a short, bitter finish. A bit of a mess. GAManiac (297), Atlanta, Georgia, USA May 20, 2008 This one poured a clear golden amber with a decent head that clung on to the side of the glass and left some solid lacing. The smell was very light with a nice balance of sweet malts and mild hops. There was a also a decent fruity sweetness in the aroma as well. The taste was also dominated by the mild sweetness of the malts with a slight hop bitterness in the finish. Mouthfeel was very creamy and smooth and was very drinkable overall. SynergyXJ (400), Blacksburg, Virginia, USA May 14, 2008 Updated: May 22, 2008Cask at Young’s, London Dark amber pour with a small head. Low aroma and a biscuit malt flavor. Really watered down and disappointing, but a bit better than the bitter. My dad (fellow beer snob) and I think there was something wrong with it because it was so bad, but the tender assured us it was right. One of the worst beers Ive had in a while. Avoid this one. renffisch (407), london, Greater London, England May 11, 2008 didn’t like it as a cellarman (real pain to keep well), don’t like it as a barmaid (needs a sprinkler... i know) and definitely dont like it as a pint. gotten a lot worse at wells. Too sweet to start with, like water in the middle and an akward bitter finish. badly unbalanced beer...
