Rich ruby coloured beer, almost red in bright light. Complex fruity nose with hints of candy. Luscious and full bodied, with a powerful mouth-coating flavour leading to a bittersweet, vinous finish.

Large fawn coloured head on a dark red/brown coloured ale, good carbonation.Aroma malted and cooked hops and barley.Flavour, bitter, creamy, oily taste okay, not a lot of other flavours, caramel(smooth)fruit taste may be yeast.Finish, malty, mild bitter, dry, not the best.

Dark brown body with an almost light tan head. Aroma is a little caramel and some cane sugar. Little thin in the taste, some dark fruit along with the caramel, some roasted notes as well, drinks alright but not a turn on.

(Bottle). Nice caramel color--perfect color in this style. Overall, a bit thin--doesn’t meet expectations given the color. Less spice and less full than other winter warmers. Bottom line: Would drink anytime, but would only buy on sale.

Bottle thanks to father. Aroma is ruby malts, raisin darker fruit character, grassy hop. Taste is similar quite rich but yet thinner than i wanted. A nice drink indeed, however more body and it could be quite a beast.

0.5L bottle pours amber with tan head and moderate lacing. The aroma has a nice barleywine sense to it with tasty dark fruity esters and some vague spice. The taste seems like a very mild barleywine with fruity esters of raisins, boysenberries and sweet cherries. There’s also hints of roasted malts, chocolate malts and vague winter ale spices. Not big and bold enough to be a real winter warmer but a suitable warm up.

Mmm. Good stuff in that heavy duty bottle. It’s aroma is a bit nutty, maybe some malt seeps through as well. It’s a reddish colored brew, with a minor head. Flavor is great, a little sweet a little malty. Its definitely one of the best ESBs I’ve had to date. It’s rather smooth, very nice.

This was a fairly decent brew. I always passed on this one but at a beer fest you don’t pass on anything. I liked it, but it’s not something I will ’hunt’ for. Good enough but not great.

Dec. 2007 - Dark brown pour with nice head and lacing. Weak aroma of nuts and metal. The flavor in this one had some caramel malts and significant nuttiness, some dark fruits and earth and a faint sweetness and an herbal hop twang. Not overly flavorful and maybe a little thin. Creamy feel on the tongue and just a slight warming burn made this an enjoyable, if unspectacular brew. I’d drink it again if offered to me, but probably wouldn’t seek it out.

Pretty mediocre. Poured a thin brown color with little head. Smell was slightly caramel, but nothing to strong. Flavor was flat and boring. A bit malty and a bit sweet, but not much going on with this one.

Sweet beery smell. Appearance is cross between rootbeer and dark ginger ale. Taste is rather alky. Malty and strong, too! Finish is medicine linger. Nice label on this bottle, I heart sunsets and sunrises. Heheheh.
