Rich ruby coloured beer, almost red in bright light. Complex fruity nose with hints of candy. Luscious and full bodied, with a powerful mouth-coating flavour leading to a bittersweet, vinous finish.
Ingredients: Maris Otter pale ale malt and crystal malt with Youngís unique cane sugar mix added to the copper with Fuggle and Golding hops.

bottle. Pours amber brown with smallish head. Aroma is sweet malits, bourbon? and hint of sourness. Flavor is caramel, roasted malts but not too strong. Full bodied with dry finish. Not remarkable for its type but a drinkable beer nontheless.

..a unique winter ale in that it is not heavy in taste not strength....wouldnt even really call this a winter beer, should be called a brown ale and available year round....very good

bottle thanks to KJís in Lake Dallas, TX. poured a hazy copper color with a beige head and little retention. aroma had good notes of carmel. flavor was sweet with a little bitterness. carbonation was med-high. a little more bubbly than i was expecting out of a winter warmer.

Large fawn coloured head on a dark red/brown coloured ale, good carbonation.Aroma malted and cooked hops and barley.Flavour, bitter, creamy, oily taste okay, not a lot of other flavours, caramel(smooth)fruit taste may be yeast.Finish, malty, mild bitter, dry, not the best.

bluevegie (3049) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - MAY 31, 2008
Dark brown body with an almost light tan head. Aroma is a little caramel and some cane sugar. Little thin in the taste, some dark fruit along with the caramel, some roasted notes as well, drinks alright but not a turn on.

(Bottle). Nice caramel color--perfect color in this style. Overall, a bit thin--doesnít meet expectations given the color. Less spice and less full than other winter warmers. Bottom line: Would drink anytime, but would only buy on sale.

Bottle thanks to father. Aroma is ruby malts, raisin darker fruit character, grassy hop. Taste is similar quite rich but yet thinner than i wanted. A nice drink indeed, however more body and it could be quite a beast.

0.5L bottle pours amber with tan head and moderate lacing. The aroma has a nice barleywine sense to it with tasty dark fruity esters and some vague spice. The taste seems like a very mild barleywine with fruity esters of raisins, boysenberries and sweet cherries. Thereís also hints of roasted malts, chocolate malts and vague winter ale spices. Not big and bold enough to be a real winter warmer but a suitable warm up.

Mmm. Good stuff in that heavy duty bottle. Itís aroma is a bit nutty, maybe some malt seeps through as well. Itís a reddish colored brew, with a minor head. Flavor is great, a little sweet a little malty. Its definitely one of the best ESBs Iíve had to date. Itís rather smooth, very nice.

This was a fairly decent brew. I always passed on this one but at a beer fest you donít pass on anything. I liked it, but itís not something I will íhuntí for. Good enough but not great.
