3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: Poured a dark brown with a nice coffee colored head. The aroma had roasted malt and apples and other fruits. The flavor was sweet and fruity but this is definitely not a fruit beer. Overall, this was a very good beer. One I would drink again.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle Sainsburys. Nose of toffee, malt and spices. Pours a deep dark caramel colour beer. Sticky mouthfeel, and somewhat overly sweet. A basic beer that would have been better if more restrained.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Flying Saucer. Has a dark reddish brown color with a small off white head. The aroma is a roasted malt with some fruit notes. Decent lacing on the glass. The taste is also roasted malt and nuts with a spicy finish. A good ESB from Young’s.

1 Pt. Bottle: Not a typical winter brew. Poured semi dar brown with no head evident. No aroma to speak of and nothing in the taste to seperate it from anything else. Probably wont be buying it again but not a horrible ale..

Wasn’t hugely impressed with this Winter ale. It was muddled in flavor and didn’t have a great aftertaste. Most Winters are smoother, despite the spices. Just ok.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
500 ml bottle from local liquor store. Pours a translucent amber-brown with a small off-white head that quickly fades to nothing. The aroma is light with raisins and plums. The flavor has plenty of fruit in it-- I note cherries, plums, raisins and dates; all set in grassy-hoppy base. The mouthfeel is a bit gritty and the carbonation is lively. This beer finishes somewhat poorly with the gritty mouthfeel lingering and a metallic taste also making itself known. Also, not very much warming going on here, the kick is rather mediocre. Overall: a reputable brewer like Young’s really can do better than this. Not recommended.
