COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Seasonal - October to Jan.
Production moved from Youngs to Wells & Youngs in October 2006.
Ingredients: Maris Otter and crystal malt with cane sugar added to the copper with Fuggle and Golding hops.
The definitive winter beer and a long-time Young’s favourite, Winter Warmer is a champion cask ale that is an essential warmer during the winter months.
"Rich ruby coloured beer, almost red in bright light. Complex fruity nose with hints of candy. Luscious and full bodied, with a powerful mouth-coating flavour leading to a bittersweet, vinous finish."

Cask @ Dirty Dick’s, Liverpool St. Reddish amber with an off white head. Bready malt, apple and caramel in the nose. Taste is much the same, a hint of fruit with sweet bready malts and caramel.

Cask. Dark tea beer with a thick offwhite head. Not much of a nose other than a light wheaty malt. Deep malty tastes in the mouth releasing tea, light toffees and a little spiciness. Pleasant.

Cask at the Spread Eagle, Albert Street, Camden Town. Dark red-brown. Served too cold. Faint aroma. Rather dusty cardboard taste. Some late bitterness, but not particularly warming.

UPDATED: MAR 21, 2012 Handpulled cask at the Red Lion Radlet. Deep ruby with a beige head. Predominately malty with a slightly corky characture. Hop bitterness has definitely gone down since 2007/8 batch. I’ve been drinking this beer since the late 70s and seen the quality go up and down over the years. The switch to Bedford was at first a reasonable match but the last batch (2008/9) showed a noticable decline.. Lighter in colour and distinctly more watery in flavour. Such a shame. I really used to look forward to drinking this every winter.

[Cask] Deep amber color with a small whiteish head. The taste is slight sweet at first but gets hoppy very fast. It finishes a sharp bitter taste.

UPDATED: APR 7, 2005 Cask@The Shaftesbury, Richmond, London. This was very malty and sweet and not much else. Not really wintery or warming either, just a sticky syruppy flavour, lots of toffee/caramel, some brown sugar, to sweet and not entirely interesting.

Caramel candy finish to a watery, licorice and coffee flavored beer. Clear amber brown with a small head. Too much caramel.

Cask @ The Wharf, Aalborg. Clear brown with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet fruity, malty, nutty and almost perfumy. Flavor is medium sweet and light bitter. Sticky mouthfeel. This is not a winter warmer, though is fairness it was served way too cold. 251210
