coffeeish aroma with hint of citrus, brown color, light sweetness, lightly bitter, light body, expected more but not bad.

Bottle: pours a reddish brown with a small tan head. It’s has the sweet aroma I expect from a bock beer. The flavor is good, sweetness and a little bitterness as well. It has a bit of an aftertaste that I’m not a huge fan of.

Light malt aroma, hints of spice and something burnt. Light lacing left by the medium head, clear medium brown in the glass. Tioasty malt taste, somewhat sweet, balanced, little aftertaste. I thought I detected a distant skunk initially but after a sip or two it was gone. Not the best example of a bock, but tasty enough and highly drinkable. $6.99/6 at Giant Eagle in NE Ohio. Not quite microbrew quality, but fairly priced and should appeal to a wide audience, especially as a change of pace for habitual macro lager dirnkers.

I usually have a soft place in my heart for the remaining US regional breweries which have managed to survive the post-Prohibition onslaught of the megabreweries. But this Pottsville Posse is increasingly straining the bonds of my affection. Twleve ounce bottle from Delhi Township Kroger. Medium ruby/brown hue, sweet medicinal aroma, moderate tan head that quickly got out of Dodge leaving little lacing, sweet malty flavor undercut by medicinal and burnt grainy notes. Sheesh. When it comes to regional breweries, I’d rather have Stevens Point. Or Straub. Maybe even Iron City.

Malty with a nutty flavor and a hint of sweetness. Very smooth and easy to drink.

Tap. Pours clear brown with a medium, fizzy off-white head, medium retention with light lacing. Aroma is light caramel and cookie malt, spicy hops and a clean lager character. Flavor is malt dominant with light hops and bitterness and a sweet finish. Medium body and carbonation with low warmth.

Had this last spring was excited to try it. Very dissapointed. Nothing like the good bocks of the midwest that actually have some body and flavor. I don’t mind regular Yuengling and was looking forward to this one. Watery weak couldn’t beieve they could call this Bock. With their German brewing heritage I certainly expected something with a little more going for it. Ill pass this year.

Draft pint. Clear brown with a small, but lasting disc of cream. Nose is scorched toffee, grain, and dry grass. Taste is pretty much the same mix. Light-medium body is balanced, drinkable, and has medium carbonation.
