Pours dark mahogany with a one finger caramel head that dissipates too quickly with zero lacing in the glass. Aroma is mostly roasted malt. Taste is roasted malt and maybe a bit of caramel and metal. There’s a smoky finish but not in a good way. I really like Yuengling Lager as my go to "slumming" beer, but this one is not very good.

Pours a dark brown with some frothy tan head. Aroma of toasted malt and caramel. Body is a bit thin with roasted sweetness and a smooth oily finish

Hint of roasty caramel/molasses on the nose. Redish ebony on the pour with a head that leaves quicklly. Roasty sweet malt first. Smooth. Finishes sweet and dry. Slick mouth feel. Average.

It had a very dark brown almost black colored body that is nearly opaque. It formed a thin, light tan head with excellent retention and very good lacing. The aroma is full of dark roasted malts with a smoky character and hints of burnt coffee and a touch of hops. the roasted malt has a slight sweetness that mostly covered up by the roasted smoky/burnt notes. There is a nice bitterness from the hops that comes out more towards the finish, which is dry and slowly fades off the tongue. The body is about medium with a smooth texture and carbonation is about average.

Transferred from 3-9-12 - Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance – The brew was served a very dark brown color which when held up to the lights show hints of red. The head that is present upon serving is tan and quite light in nature. The head fades fast leaving a thin film on the brew with some light lacing on the sides of the glass. Smell – The smell is exceedingly light. There is however the slightest amount of roasted coffee and chocolate combined with a tiny bit of sweetness. Taste – The taste is rather roasted malt in nature with hints of coffee, cocoa, and some nuttiness. There is a very subtle sweeter chocolate that is present in the beginning but fades as the taste advances to leave a rather dry finishing porter. Mouthfeel – The body is on the moderate side with a lower level of carbonation. It is actually much creamier then I would have originally expected for the abv. and fits the porter style quite nicely. Overall- While not the most flavorful and robust porter out there, for the price you pay this is one fantastic brew. It’s easy to drink and has some rather nice characteristics. A very good session beer.

Really not bad. Its a little thin and a little like a standard lager with a little chocolate malt thrown in, but I don’t mind drinking it. It’s kind of like a summer porter.

Rated on 3-30-2011 (Bottle purchased at Total Wine & More-Ft. Myers, FL) When poured, the head is small, very fizzy and tan. The body is opaque black and my glass has one ring of lacing. The aroma is roasty, burnt malt. The taste is roasted coffee, chocolate and malt. The mouthfeel is lively and this beer is light-medium bodied. This beer lacks character and flavor. The flavor is semi-light for the style and overall falls short for the style.

From a 12 oz bottle into a glass at home, poured a dark brown color with a average light brown head that faded quickly.A very light roast in the nose.Medium thin body with average carbonation.Kept waiting for the flavor but it never got around to showing up. Reminded me of the days of drinking yellow beer.
