A very solid porter; very drinkable. Not a Old World-style porter by any means however.

Almost black color with a light beige head. Roasted aroma. A deep sweet flavour with some roasted notes. Nah not my porter.

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Poured dark almost black brown, light brown head. Nose is mostly roasted malts and chocolate. Taste is consistent with nose, some roasted malts, some chocolate also some coffee. Enjoyable, drinkable but certainly not spectacular.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark brown, nearly opaque. With a very good tan head. Revising an old standard here and Iím not disappointed. Then again, I remember a marginally poor beer and this is decent. It does lack flavor, seeming made with minimal malts for style.

Coffee brown with brown head. Roasty aroma. Slightly thin, roasty malt flavor. Earthy hop. Nothing offensive but a little bland.

In my first review I stated "It is what it is". But after trying it again for the 3rd-4th time it is growing on me. Itís actually a decent porter, especially for a mass produced non-microbrew. I donít mind the regular Yuengling (especially compared to other domestics like Bud, Coors, etc.), so I decided to give itís porter a try since I am a big fan of porters. This almost has the appearance of a stout....a nice dark brown near black. I would also say that this taste more like a mild stout rather than a porter. Sweet and caramely with a hint of chocolate from the oats. Compared to the regular Yuengling, Iíd say that this is better. For the price it isnít bad at all.

Black pour with a lasting tan head. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla and vegetable. Flavor has chocolate and some decent roast overtones. Pretty high carbonation but decent mouthfeel. Lingering vanilla, oily finish. Pretty good for a macro and actually close stylistically. Needs more body and less carbonation but otherwise pretty decent.

Rootbeer color with faint caramel aroma. Taste is very plain, no chocolate, no roast, no coffee, slight caramel. Palate is clean and smooth but thin. Beer #6 in a mixed pack of 6 dark beers. The weakest flavor of the bunch but I prefer it over the two that were very roasted/smokey. If you like this beer take a look at Saranac Black Forest.

12oz bottle from Wegmans, Buffalo, NY. A deep mahogany colour with a reddish glow and a ring of cream head; caramel aroma with a hint of chocolate; soft smooth caramel taste with a touch of spicy; and a tracely finish. A reasonable porter.

Pours very dark with dark tan head that is short-lived. Taste of caramel is most prevalent. Leaves a bitter metallic after taste on the tongue.

Bottle, black with decent tan head. Roasted malt nose. Chocolate up front, dry roast finish. Slightly coats the tongue. One of the better standards by Americas oldest.
