Bonster (81), Jersey Shore, New Jersey, USA Oct 21, 2009 Sample at Newtown Brewfest. Pale yellow gold color with decent white head that receeds quickly. Smells of grains with a little spice. Good amount of carbonation. Flavor of sweet malt and grains dominate followed by a mild bitter finish. Elwood (647), Leesburg, Virginia, USA Oct 17, 2009 Serving: 12 oz. bottle.
Appearance: Light copper color with a foamy white head. Poor head retention and virtually no lacing.
Aroma: A light nose with grassy hops and grainy malt. Nothing special.
Flavor: Follows the nose with grass, grain, mild malt sweetness and a decent bitter backbone. It lacks anything substantial though.
Palate: Medium-high carbonation with a medium-light mouthfeel and a medium-short, slightly bitter finish.
Overall: Only worth drinking if you don’t have much else. ghostmonkey (182), budd lake, New Jersey, USA Oct 16, 2009 bottle . . poured amber with a white head . . aroma is malts with some hop . . taste is sweet, malty . . more flavor than the lager Gorosaurus (10), Pennsylvania, USA Oct 5, 2009 A fine, medium ale. Goes well with seafood, as per description.
Immediately impacts the mouth, with a noteworthy aftertaste. Not too strong in any particular way, but aroma is probably its highest score.
A wonderful choice for something different, but not too different. curly (548), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Oct 5, 2009 Sampled at the 8th Annual Music City Brewer’s Festival. Pours clear golden yellow with a thin white head. Aroma is wheat with some yeast spice. Taste is apple, pear, yeast and overall lacking. Not the worst ever. michael-pollack (2598), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 1, 2009 12oz. Bottle: Aroma of skunk, noble hops, grain, and some grass. Poured yellow/amber/apple juice in color with a large, creamy, dense, off-white head that lasted throughout. Clear. Very sparkling. Excellent lacing. Flavor is medium bitter and slightly sweet. Tastes of malts, hops, grains, skunk, and lager yeast. Medium body. Crisp texture. Average to lively carbonation. Bitter, slightly sweet, finish is lightly dry. NJJereme (260), Saint Petersburg, Florida, USA Sep 30, 2009 Can. Pours a copper-honey color w/ a decent frothy white head. Fair balance b/w the malts and hops but really nothing distinguishing about it. Not the worst thing either. fogdoctor (16), Pennsylvania, USA Sep 28, 2009 Bottle. Cold. Eh, its OK but has a funny taste when it finishes. I really did not care for it because there was nothing to set it apart from the ocean of average pale ales. It starts with a grainy/grassy sweetness (thats too sweet) and then finishes with a hint of hops. It leaves a mild aftertaste of bad malt that does not make it easy drinking.
