A zesty hop aroma and a distinctive robust flavor.

Pours clear pale yellow with a medium white head. Aroma is grassy and a but soapy...touch of sweet straw. Flavor has bland straw and grassy hops...tangy lemongrass note. Mouthfeel is light/medium and the finish is grassy/tangy and dry.

Bottle. Pours a clear light copper body with a one finger fizzy white head. The nose is lightly skunky and sulphury with some light hoppy notes and a bit of corn. The flavor is a bit better, there’s a noticeable floral hop bite to it over the corn laced thinly malty body. Finishes with some light lingering bitterness. Light bodied and thin with fizzy forced carbonation. I’ve had a lot better bottles of this, and it’s noticeably better when on tap. Wish they’d get away from the green bottles for this beer, I think it hurts the quality of this more than their Lager.

12oz can from a fellow Siebel student. Pours a clear yellow-gold colored body with a finger-width, frothy, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is light floral citruses and a lightly sweetened, somewhat bready pils malt backing. Flavor is similar. A few lemony florals with a touch of grass and a lightly sweetened, bready and grainy pils malt backing. Finishes crisp and clean with just a light bitterness. Medium length aftertaste following a light body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty decent golden ale. Nothing special, but enjoyable enough.

Yeesh this is bad, not sure if old or whatever, but this tastes skunked (green bottle duh) then an astringent hop taste in the back.. I was reaching at the bowling alley, guess G&T’s are next.

Bottle->SA. Golden color with white head. Aroma has grains over hops. Tastes of a meadow and grains. Eh.

Draft at Cincinnati Blues Fest on August 10, 2012. Dark gold hue, pungent aroma, watery intial mouthfeel, then brief sweetness folowed by musty bitterness and astringency. Something of a mess, worse than when I had it from its infamous green bottle a few years back.

Yuengling Traditional Lager is a staple of mine when i want something simple, and when I saw their Chesterfield was available in lower Ohio, I had to snag some. Probably a bad idea. Part of the problem was the dusty green bottles, which, upon opening, revealed a very skunked beer. So, obviously, for aroma, this thing was rough on the nose. Hopefully I’ll be able to get it on tap or fresher sometime so I can get a better idea of what this thing is supposed to smell like. Appearance-wise, the beer pours a straw yellow with a white head that doesn’t stick around for long. The flavor is...underwhelming. Little bit of malt on the tip of the tongue, but the hops come in pretty fast, though the hop presence is not strong, it simply overcomes the light flavor of the malts. Fairly thin in the mouth as well. Disappointing overall. Their traditional lager is a fin, if unassuming, brew, but this one is not worth the cost.

Aroma is bready malts and lemons/hops. The flavor is citrus/lemon, malts and a hoppy finish. Not really skunky, was a decent golden ale.

is this how it is supposed to smell? It smells skunky right out of the bottle... but also oddly like it has chocolate... tastes better than it smells though

Bottle. Slightly sweet aroma and flavor. Lacks the characteristic hoppy base of Yuengling Draft. Not satisfying. If I grabbed one of these out of the cooler again after a hockey game, I’d throw it back.
