This is a bitter, hoppy brew! That’s what it is...that’s what it is supposed to be. So, you don’t like the bitterness? Fine. Don’t dis the beer just because you’re a little girly man! ...OK, sorry...! This is one of those beers that not everyone can love. And I’m OK with that...but I love it. It’s got that bitter edge that I happen to love. Not everyday, not all the time, but this is an excellent brew, and I enjoy it with anything from steaks and burgers to hot dogs and corn on the cob! This great ale cuts through the heaviness of the food with its hoppy bitterness...all in all, a wonderful offering from Yunegling, and I highly recommend it.

Clear darker yellow, lots of carbonizing. Big white lasting lacing foam head. Strong barley aroma, don’t like that. OK taste, not outstanding, barley and yeast dominated. (Chicago 201510)

Th beer pours a slightly hazy orangeish golden color with a small white head. The aroma has a strong dough yeast smell, but there is also a pale malt sweetness and a hint of fruitiness. The taste is mildly sweet and slightly sour, and the sweetness hits the tongue first with more sour, slinky, and even slightly fruity flavors developing later in the taste. The palate fuses a a slick texture, medium body, and a soft carbonation. Overall, it’s not bad, but it’s not too good either.

Younglings best entry. I must admit you will either love or have this. Fruity taste yet bitter. Each sip tastes different. The only Yuengling beer still made in original brewery. Only drawback is I get a headache from drinking it. That’s what ibuprofen is for

On tap at Taproom on 19th. Pours a clear gold with large frothy off white head that lasts. The aroma is grass and wheat. Thin mouth with metallic flavor, wheat, skunky, decent.

Poured from green bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a nice golden color with a two finger billowy white head. The head has a great level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a good level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – As may be expected from a green bottle, the brew has a bit of a skunky aroma. Along with the skunk are some aromas of a grainy nature as well as some smells of corn.
Taste – The taste begins with a grainy and corny taste. While corny, the taste is not too sweet, but on the moderate side. The grain smooth’s out taking on a more bready flavor as the taste advances. Along with the transition of the grain to bread, there is also an increase in the hop, which too this point were very minimal. A bit of a grassy and herbal nature as well as a little bit of a hay like flavor are all present at the end leaving a lightly hopped, moderately sweet and smooth bready flavor, with only a hint of skunk flavor, to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel –The body of the beer is on the average to slightly creamier side for the abv and the style with a carbonation level that is on the slightly lower side. Both were decent for the brew, but nothing too exceptional.
Overall – Not the best brew out there, but if it wasn’t in a green glass bottle it likely would have been slightly better due to lack of any “skunk”. It was sort of a Heineken/Yuengling hybrid. Easy drinking but nothing too great.

Pour a pale yellow with a thin white head with just a little lacing. Aroma is of bready malts, light cereal malts, sweet malts, grassy hops, herbal hops, and a little pine. Taste is about the same as the aroma. Has a medium-light body with a watery mouthfeel and a sightly dry, medium-short finish. Overall, a rather poor golden ale that I find to be too light and not as good as Yuengling’s lager.

One of the best beers I have ever tasted. Crisp, clean and refreshing. An excellent beer during all seasons.

Pours a golden yellow with a nice white head. Aroma is a little yeasty with a touch of malt. This is a light beer yet bitter on the backend. Has a little hoppy bitterness and a tad bit of that green bottle skunkiness. To me, tastes like an old ale. Pretty good stuff.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker glass.
Clear golden color with a medium white head.
Soft grassy nose, with faint malt and some grains. Some papery notes.
Plain light malt flavors, a bit metallic, lo-med bitterness, faint fruitiness, somewhat harsh.
Light body, not very pleasant but somehow drinkable.
