2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Light body. Taste is light as well. Color is a nice brown red. Pretty much yuengling with a very light charged taste. Disappoint honesty. Doesn’t seem like they put much into it. Yuengling could deffinetly use some branching out.

2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Aroma of skunk and bread.
Tastes like a maltier version of Yuengling lager.
Surprising amount of skunk flavor for something I got out of a cardboard case.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draught: This one pours a clear, coppery color. There was quite a bit of an off-white head on it that left a bit of lacing. The aroma is lighter, but still good. Caramel malts and a bit of grains predominate. The taste is pretty good. Some caramel malts, graininess, A touch of earthy and grassy hops. Not the best, but not bad either. A good choice for an establishment with a limited selection.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
DATE TASTED: September 7, 2013 ... GLASSWARE: Sam Adams lager glass... OCCASION: a beautiful Autumn football night...APPEARANCE: handsome dark amber body; steady, full effervescence; thick and creamy off-white head; slick, sporadic lacing--solid if not attractive... AROMA: bright, punchy (almost medicinal? band aid?) malts that do not distinguish themselves positively...PALATE: thinning, mouth-quenching consistency; surprisingly active at the teeth, denoting some hop presence...TASTE: doughy bread malts mesh with bittering hops to produce an ESB of sorts; a flattened profile as the glass drains--toasted cereal lacks the malt punch or sweetness that elevates better marzens... OVERALL: the sum of its parts? a reasonably drinkable, affordable fall alternative to higher-priced fests...the flipside? not festive enough, considering the proliferation of marzen possibilities at most distributors now...

3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 13/20
Orange/brown pour. Nose of burnt toast, bread, caramelized sugars, toffee, slight hop presence and earthy grain.excellent and complex nose. Taste is the same as the aroma but lighter. Thin body. Great nose. Mild flavor. If it had more body it would be alot better.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a reddish orange color. Little head is featured - actually, it’s just a thin, off-white film. Can’t really talk about retention.
S: The cereal grain component I normally expect from a Yuengling is toned down, but not nonexistent. Touches of unsweetened caramel abound, also. Not bad for a macro-brewed marzen.
T: Flavor-wise, it’s mainly cereal grains and toasted caramel malts, with a touch of finishing sweetness. That’s about it. Okay, maybe not, because I’m picking up faint apricot hints. Very simplistic, but also very easy to quaff in typical Yuengling fashion.
M: Carbonation is really strong, which does a decent job of cutting through the sweet finish. Ultimately, though, it is slightly too sweet. Drinkability is excellent, at least.
O: This could have been far worse. Honestly, I like it more than Sam Adams Octoberfest, and would never refuse this. But is it a good marzen? Not quite. Go into this expecting a slightly sweeter version of the Traditional Lager and you’ll probably be happier with it.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A nice Yuengling alternative, pleasant and refreshing. Great orange color with steady lacing. Mild but complex taste with some different bitter and earthy flavors. Again, flavor is mild and not overpowering. Very smooth and has a cleaner finish than standard Yuengling. A good beer overall.

Bottle at Tank’s with Moose. Honestly, not a bad festbier at a all. Maybe a little heavier body than is typical but pretty tasty. Not a bad choice.
