This beer had plenty of potential, with a beautiful, dark amber pour and a fairly thick tan head. The aroma was very inviting, too, with plenty of caramel malt, lightly toasted bread and a hint of crisp hops. But that’s where the good traits in this beer end, unfortunately. The head doesn’t leave much lacing around the glass. The flavors aren’t very well balanced, with some sour notes toward the finish. I did get some toasted malts and light hops, but the sourness really overshadowed the good flavors. I really didn’t expect a whole lot from this beer, in the first place, and it aligned fairly well with those expectations.

12oz bottle. Pours a deep amber color with a thin white head. Aroma of caramel malt, and slightly nutty. The taste is on the sweet side with caramel, and a slightly burnt aftertaste.

Bottle - pours caramel with offwhite head. Nose is cardboard. Flavor adds caramel. Light bitterness. Horrible.

Thin at first, then building to a malty taste that still lacks punch. Bland finish. Rather disappointing overall.

From a bottle. Pours clear medium brown with a thin white head. Tastes very much like sweet corn and malt, kind of syrupy. Medium body and carbonation. Smells like sweet malt and corn syrup.

UPDATED: AUG 26, 2012 The Missus and I are having a BBQ Labor Day weekend and thinking about buying a case of Yuengling Octoberfest. In Philly area case is running $22-$25. A work trip to Delaware gave me the opportunity to buy a single bottle of Yeungling O-Fest @ Total Wine for a test drive. Malt aroma, dark amber body and lasting tan foam throughout sample. Crisp, malt caramel flavors with a slight sourness peeking through. Likeable Marzen from the most famous Pennsylvania macro brewery.

Taste of grain, bread, mild herbal hops, herbs and spice. Medium/light body and medium/high carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draught: This one pours a clear, coppery color. There was quite a bit of an off-white head on it that left a bit of lacing. The aroma is lighter, but still good. Caramel malts and a bit of grains predominate. The taste is pretty good. Some caramel malts, graininess, A touch of earthy and grassy hops. Not the best, but not bad either. A good choice for an establishment with a limited selection.

Bottle. Poured amber with an off-white head that settled to a ring. Aroma of toasted malt. The flavor found tasted malt with spices in the background. Light to medium body, and toasted malt aftertaste.
