3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draught: This one pours a clear, coppery color. There was quite a bit of an off-white head on it that left a bit of lacing. The aroma is lighter, but still good. Caramel malts and a bit of grains predominate. The taste is pretty good. Some caramel malts, graininess, A touch of earthy and grassy hops. Not the best, but not bad either. A good choice for an establishment with a limited selection.

Bottle from Wegman’s. Pours clear brown with a small head that dissipates pretty quickly. Aroma is a little toasty but not really interesting. Taste is pretty interesting.. has some good maltiness and is overall a really nice Oktoberfest. Impressed by the local.

Thin at first, then building to a malty taste that still lacks punch. Bland finish. Rather disappointing overall.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Aroma of caramel malt, corn. Pours amber with a nice head. Taste is really streamlined with corn and caramel malt. Sweeter than the lager but just okay.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
THOUGHTS: Sort of just a way more malty and hoppy version of their regular lager, but I guess that’s sort of like the original German oktoberfest beers. Märzens were never a favorite of mine, but last year I found several I really liked, but this is more like the first few that I ever tried that first put me off to the style.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, light to medium copper with a large, off-white head that mostly diminished and left fair lacing. The aroma had light to moderate caramel, nutty and toasted malts; and moderate grassy and metallic hops. The initial flavor was moderately sweet and slightly bitter; while the finish was moderately sweet and lightly bitter with a fairly short duration. There was caramel, malt, dark bread, a little raisin, toasted and nutty malts, grassy and metallic hops. But it was all sort of watered down. The light to medium body was watery with fizzy carbonation and a metallic finish.

Yuengling should stick with what they know. This isn’t it. Mild flavor, but lacks that sweetness the a true Marzen has. Wor.th a try but not much more

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Refrigerated bottle poured into a shaker. Pours clear light amber with finger width off-white head. Little lacing, light carbonation, thin body, and caramel grain aroma. Taste is caramel grain, corn, a hint of an off taste, and some crisp hops. Below average even for an octoberfest.
