Draft at Oktoberfest ZInzinnati on September 22, 2012. Amber/red/pink (yes, pink) hue, small head, aroma that’s equal parts pale lager and toasted malt, flavor that’s a cross between Yuengling Traditional Lager and a standard marzen with a bit of astringency. Somewhat strange but drinkable.

Clear copper color with aroma of caramel and toasted malt. Caramel and toasted malt flavor. Not great. Not bad.

Underdogs88 (97) - New Jersey, USA - SEP 7, 2014
Light toasted clean aroma. Dark orange appearance with a white head with below average head retention. A little too much toast in the flavor. Bitterness is high and the finish is dry. Mouthfeel is medium light with medium carbonation and a metallic astringency. Overall, the recipe needs to be reformulated. The toasted notes are too intense. The body is too light, bitterness is too high and it contains an unpleasant metallic that lasts on the end. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a clear amber color with a thin tan head. Malty, sweet aroma. The taste was a roasted malt with a slightly sweet caramel flavor that finished a little bitter. Really good beer.

Pours a soft orange copper color with a slight tan head of foam that fell to a ring and film on top. Good clarity and honey golden hues. Nose has a lot of caramel on it. Some faint toasty bread and a good grain scent. A bit of popcorn. No hops until a small sweet grass comes up as ti warms. Taste is smooth and rich. The grain is lovely and seems like it has melted into the caramel which is dominant on the palate. It has a good amount of sweetness and a bit of fry crisp malt to withstand that. It does drink a bit breaddy and with a touch of lemon in the finish and sweet grass and slight underlying hop bitter. It’s good but very sweet and has a bit of buttery slickness int he mouthfeel and a touch fo butterscotch in the flavor.

Bottle at Seth's. Malt nose and not much else. Medium body and some caramel hints but not strong. Smooth but cheap tasting.

Transfer from BA review on 8-27-12 - Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance – Pours a deep amber color with lots of tiny bubbles streaming up through the brew. Upon pouring there is a one finger white head. The head has good retention but does eventually fade to leave a light level of lacing. Smell – The aroma is of a sweeter and toasted malt base. The sweetness is of a more toffee nature while the malt is of a bready smell with notes of some light roast. Taste – A caramel sweetness and a roasted malt are the first to meet the tongue. Toward the middle the sweetness fades some with the beer becoming more crisp in nature. More toward the end some hop flavors come to the tongue. These hop flavors are lighter in nature and are largely of an earthy nature. In the end there is a bit of resurgence of some sweetness as well, leaving a rather pleasant sweet and roast flavor on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The beer is on the lighter to medium side with respects to its body and has an average carbonation level. The body would have been better suited by a bit more creaminess (letting those roasty and lightly hopped flavors really be detected by the tongue). Even with this said, it was fairly good overall and really quite nice. Overall – Living in Pennsylvania now and having greater access to Yuengling’s many brews, I really have come to appreciate what they offer. It is a good product at a great price. Like their year round beers their Octoberfest is no different. While not the best per say, for its price to quality ratio, it is one of the best. It has good flavor as well as a nice color and smell. I say it’s a job well done by Yuengling.

(bottle - 12 oz) Clear orange pour with a thin tan head. Sweet malty aroma with some caramel. Sweet malty flavor with some caramel and dry bitter malts. Can’t get too excited about it.

Light clear brown pour. White head. Aroma is brown sugar. Taste is corny and sweet.
