Well, my dad drinks these religiously, and they are always in the fridge. He popped one open tonight, and I was like, what the hell, Ill rate it. So I poured me some. Pours a murky dark brown, with a small light tan head. Looks pretty light bodied for a porter. Smells of musty caramel malt and molasses, with touches of vanilla cream and banana. The flavor was light bodied and had a noticeable yuengling-like grainy taste to it that I just couldnt get past. Its almost like they took regular Yuengling and added a bunch of caramel malt to it and called it a porter. If they are gonna try a new style, they need to totally rethink the recipe. Way to light, and not huge on flavor enough for me to take this beer seriously. Failure.

A very dark brown/reddish colour with a medium sized tan head. roasted nutty character with a firm malted mouthfeel. soft fruity finish with a subtle hop undertone.

I usually buy a 12 pack of these every now and then at a local corner store only becauce some times its the best to choose from...I’ve had much better black and tans. There’s just not a whole lot of flavor going for this one. I don’t like the end taste...

12-oz. Thanks, Blindeyedbetty! Pours black with a thin but dense and creamy tan head. Looks great. Has a semi-sweet chocolate nose shot through somehow with an industrial overtone...not saying I’m capable of sniffing out preservatives or anything like that, but something smells oddly synthetic here. Medium, watery, rather flat body. Chalky and neutral tasting with overtones of mild semi-sweet baking chocolate. There’s nothing wrong with this beer at all, but it takes a herculean effort to pick up much flavor.

Not bad for a big American attempt at a B & T. Dark color but too much lager flavor keep this from being a better beer. But it is drinkable which is a step in the right direction. Good malt aroma and lots of bubbles. Flavor is a tad watery but some dark malt flavor it evident.

bottle, an easily available beer that is both cheap and good. Almost lagery flavor. Dark but somewhat light. Would buy again

Bottle. Pours a reddish-black with little head. Aroma is of caramel and light roast. Flavor starts sweet with caramel and finishes abruptly with a pecan dryness. Highly carbonated so it’s definately light. Overall this is a nice alternative if you are on a budget and looking for something with substance.

Bottle, thanks to a friend in PA. Pours a ruby-black with medium weak tan head. Aroma was kinda slight dark roast with a musty old note. Flavor is light dark roast, and a light sweet. Feels medium-watery mouthfeel with high carbonation. It’s an ok porter, but their dark brewed porter is much better....
