3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
For a pre-mixed black and tan, this is very smooth and easy to drink. Better than their straight lagers.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
I hadn't visited a Black and Tan beer in some time--I'd had only the Saranac since I became a beer geek--and this was interesting. There is a notable maltiness here, of course, and a good blossoming of chocolate flavor. Like a schwarzbier, there is a thinness of body and a bit of fizz, with a decent head. Clear, dark, with a reddish hue. It is enjoyable for its approaches to porter flavors, but there is a constant reminder of its "tan" component that undermines it with unenticing dimensions. Oh well, another free bottle given to me at a Pennsylvania convention!

For some reason, I remember this having more flavor than their regular porter. Delicious and of course cheap as hell. Cheers to Yuengling.

Not bad because their porter is good. But Yuengling premium stinks. If they mixed it with something else than this beer would probably be pretty good.

This wasn't too bad but I would prefer the porter rather than a mix of it and the premium beer.

Dark color, small quickly disapating lace, rather thin. Aroma is slightly malty and quite weak. Flavor starts somewhat malty with some carmel and coffee tones, has a somewhat bitter hoppy middle and finishes slightly sour. Has some good flavors but there all a little too subdued.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
an average black and tan that tastes mass produced, somewhat bland, but it does come in a can, and is ok on a cool summer night

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
What I notice first is that it's a bit more complex than one would expect from a mainstream beer-good chocolatey and caramel aromas, and the flavors suggest a nutty quality overall with hints of caramel. Slight coffee nuances come out as well and there is a slight roastiness present but lacking in intensity somewhat. The hop finish is minimal, with a more malty finish. Light and smooth, goes down easy.
A pleasant surprise.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This beer is excellent in summer or winter, as it full-bodied, but not overly carbonated or heavy. Smooth taste and aftertaste. Good value of the money.
